Someone faked a trail marker wayspot and my removal request failed somehow

  • Wayspot Title: Wandelroutemaker Wagenaarlaan

  • Location (lat/lon): 51.519023, 5.485604

  • City: Son

  • Country: Netherlands

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

This is a screenshot of the official hiking trail network map website ( Plan je eigen wandelroute in Brabant | Routeplanner VisitBrabant ). The official routes are mapped out with the orange lines, and as you can clearly see, they do NOT pass through the road that this wayspot is on. Someone took a photo of one of the trail marker stickers in the nearby area that IS actually on the official route and faked it in a completely wrong location.

There is no arrow sticker to be found anywhere on the streetlights near the wayspot’s coordinates either. This wayspot is entirely fake.

Abuse reports should be done either through the webform or help chat and not the map/in-game reporting tool as those are not resulting into a review of submitter behaviour.

I reported it for “location does not exist”, which should’ve been enough to get it removed.

It could be, but for abuse cases you should use the form: Reporting Abuse in Wayfarer — Wayfarer Help Center or help chat as only these 2 methods will actually investigate abusive behaviour.

The streetview is roughly a year old, maybe it is there by now. Just because street view doesn’t show anything doesn’t mean it is abuse. You would need to go there and take video/photo to prove

Except I’ve been through that neighborbood two months ago to submit all the trail markers there.

If this wayspot actually existed, I would have found it and submitted it.

And you’re also missing the fact that there is an official map of these trails and none of them go through the street that this wayspot is in.

And before you say “oh, maybe the map is outdated too”: no it isn’t. The map is maintained by the province’s tourism organization and they keep it very up to date. They even show when areas are temporarily unavailable due to road construction.

And furthermore, the wayspot photo clearly shows that this marker is located on a streetlight with the number 14 on it.

Except the streetlight that’s closest to the wayspot location has the number 6 on it.

And this is verified by the city’s website for reporting a broken streetlight: Melden - Gemeente Son en Breugel https://share.google/AYl4nKJicjZNgy5ME

Conclusion: this wayspot is as fake as can be.

Bumping this back to the top of the list.
