The other day I was reviewing submissions like usual. Click, rate, comment, and move on. Nothing special.
Then the next day I’m scrolling and I see a nomination I had approved. Someone posted it with the caption, “No way I made this waypoint.”
I just sat there thinking, “Well… actually-”
The post didn’t have many views and the profile was small, but the excitement was huge. You could feel it through the screen. Pure joy. Pure disbelief.
Meanwhile I’m on the other side, casually clicking buttons in my pajamas during my free time.
It hit me. Even as a beginner reviewer, I’m part of these moments. Someone out there is celebrating because of a decision I made in 20 seconds.
I’ve only submitted one Wayspot myself so far, just to test the waters. Now I’m not sure what I’m waiting for more, the approval or the emotional rollercoaster.
This is a helpful reminder of the big upside of reviewing.
For all of those that you vote positively towards that end up as an agreement to accept those are wayspots that you helped on their way to being on the map.
I’m pretty new myself, both as a reviewer and for submitting.
But every time I send a gift in po-go from a stop/wayspot I nominated myself, I feel a funny sense of pride
One of my recent submissions is a gym, according to the map, and I’m dying to get out to it and place a pokemon. It’s pretty cool to be a part of a game in this way.
My local Campfire group gave me a “community service award” at Sunday’s meetup, for being the first member to reach 100 approved wayspots (I actually have 104).
I was surprised about that “first”, as this is the largest group in my metro area and has about 12K members.
Personally, I love it when I see one of my nominations being used – the sparkle of a lure placed at something that I made possible
But subbing can be a rollercoaster, and you do need to develop a bit of a thick skin for the rejections, particularly when the stated reasons are daft.
