Today, I had a Wayspot nomination rejected for the following reason:
‘The location of the submission does not match the photos and/or the map.’
The problem is that I cannot appeal it because I have already used two appeals on other nominations that were wrongly refused, but which the Niantic Team approved in the end.
That’s why I’m making this post: can this clearly wrong decision be overturned?
I’ll post screenshots of the correct location on Google Maps/Street View to prove that it is indeed there:
Having provided all this proof, I would like to reiterate my request: can this clearly incorrect decision be overturned by the Niantic admins?
I can provide more photos if needed. The POI is available 24/7, all year round, as it is on the public side of the road.
This is for Rejected Report Wayspot Appeal, not for appealing a rejected wayspot.
You need to use the appeal in wayfarer, you have 2 each, with 15 days cooldown on each appeal. A community reject likely will not get attention from the staff and will make it an accept. But also:
This does not look eligible to me as it is a decorated stone in entrance, that is mass produced? So even if you do appeal I don’t have much chance to get it approved. Also:
It is in the wrong location, the red pin is your coordinate and the red dot i draw on the left corner of the map is the statue.
If you would like help from the community identifying why reviewers marked the location as incorrect, please provide the coordinates from the submission email. The coordinates you pasted are not from the email, as those coordinates are given to 6 decimal places.
There may be an issue with your placement that you are not aware of, and we could help you improve.
You can wait 15 days for a new appeal, or you could resubmit with changes that address the issues flagged by users.
Hi, thanks for your message; obviously there’s always something to learn and I’m down for it.
So, quick question: how do I copy the coordinates directly from the submission page? I’ve had to provide them to this thread via Google Maps, manually selecting the pin where I remember I’ve placed it so it might be indeed incorrect.
Also, I know that I can appeal, but I can’t for about 1 week more, and I’ve used an upgrade on this submission, which is why I wanted this sorted out this way, but TIL also that it seems like it’s not possible to do so
P.S. in about half an hour I can go to the POI and take a picture with the GPS Map Camera app, which I’ve also just learned about, amazing app for this use!
Go to the email that you got when you submitted the wayspot. Below the two photos is a set of coordinates. Take a screenshot of that part of the email and post it into this thread.
Please note that this is not a catch-all and won’t always work. Lots of people (myself included) won’t place any value in the GPS data being added onto the photograph, because it is too easy to abuse this (e.g., simply editing the photo).
So, given that the coordinates were indeed slightly off, I have two questions now: since the S2 lvl 17 cell would still be the same, is it possible to have it moved by an admin and approved?
If not, do you guys suggest I just resubmit it with the perfect exact coordinates? The statue in question is not mass-produced, is a unique piece by a local artist and has been there for about 40 years at least so it’s definitely very good POI.
If it was not likely to be accepted due to being mass produced then re-submitting would be the correct procedure but I would definitely walk away from this one.
Oh boy, the neighbours are liars then. I’ve asked them about it and they told me a totally fake story then ahahah
Well, time to move on indeed; gotta find something else for that cell
Thank you guys for all the tips; it was a nice learning experience on my end.
