The Gamers Lodge (Former game store under new ownership) multiple rejections

Please provide:

  • A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected

  • Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
    The Gamers Lodge.
Card and Board game venue that hosts Pokémon events including TCG, VGC and GO.

This venue has taken over from previous owners to continue providing a safe and comfortable indoor space (with outdoor seating in better weather) for people to meet and play and could do with an updated stop for players of GO. Often used by players as a meeting point before heading out around the area for events.

The location is at 61A Kempston Street in Liverpool.
An initial attempt was made just to edit the details of the existing Pokestop as it initially seemed the most logical way to deal with a business changing names, however was rejected as ‘repurposing’ an existing stop.

The existing Pokestop was then requested removal, which was accepted, to allow requesting a new one with the correct details, however submissions with the locations new details have been rejected multiple times as duplicates.

As indicated in the pictures, streetview etc, the previous location(s as I believe the previous store somehow had TWO wayspots) no longer exist but there appears to be no mechanism to remove the additional duplicates to allow this corrected request to go through review.

Hello, I’ve had a look and think this is the duplicate mentioned.

The mural matches the outside. Whilst it may not appear in Pokémon GO, it’s still in the Niantic Map data as a Wayspot.

Also, there’s already a Wayspot that’s become a PokéStop on this cell.

Red marker is the coordinates of the duplicate

So “Guildart Street mural #1” is the PokéStop for that cell.

That is indeed the old storefront, the new owners have kept the murals up as it would be a shame to get rid of them and end up with a drab brick wall like most of the rest of the street.

In that case it’s still in the database and is the Live Wayspot that the Niantic team mention is a duplicate.

As noted, even if the name was updated, it wouldn’t appear in Pokémon GO.

Fairly new to how the nominations work, so didn’t know there was a restriction on amount in a given area (I swear I’ve seen several almost on top of each other in some locations before while travelling).
What I don’t understand then is why the previous spot was permitted but not the replacement ( it was much closer to the center of the building than shown in that image, definitely to the right of the red line).
The original hope was for one of the Play! Pokestops but it appears that programme is no longer active.

There had been a Pokestop there (as mentioned in my other response, that was removed to attempt to correct the details as an attempt to just edit the stop was rejected as ‘repurposing’), so this is where the confusion came in

One PokéStop in a S2 L17 cell. Depending on where it falls across the lines some can look very very close but are in separate cells.

As noted, the Wayspot already exists in the database (under the old name) but won’t be eligible to appear in Pokémon GO.

What you noted was removed was the other one.

“The Scythe Tea Cup”. It’s still in Ingress where I’ve got this from due to the maps splitting but it isn’t the same as the business from what I can see.

It’s also in a different cell, so met the inclusion rules of Pokémon GO.

I believe it started as crit hit/critical hit as per the earlier image you included, then became the scythe and tea cup (per the spot) under the same management.
Now it’s been taken over by new ownership it’s rebranded as The Gamers Lodge, hence the hope to have replaced the spot.

They are two different Wayspots.

Scythe and Tea Cup is one Wayspot, which you noted was a PokéStop and then got removed.

There’s also a Wayspot for “critical hit game hub” which is a different Wayspot to the “Scythe and Tea Cup”. Removing the mural has zero impact on the other Wayspot.

“critical hit game hub” is still in the database. As mentioned, it could be renamed but would still not appear in Pokémon GO.

Looking back a bit on Google Maps, seems to be the other way round.

Could well have been, I only visited under current ownership and as scythe and tea cup.

There was originally attempts to rename the existing spot, the edits to descriptions and images were all accepted, but the change of name was rejected as ‘repurposing’ and indications were this would always be the case (and may result in accounts restrictions) and best course was to remove the old spot and resubmit.
Unfortunately in this case it appears to have left us without a Pokestop there instead.

Without a pokestop at that specific location, but you still have a pokestop in the cell. Thats just the way it is, not all waypoints can become pokestops/gyms… it does look like its far away enough to possibly qualify as a PowerSpot rotations.

You could use the Help Chat (go on to Wayfarer site > Help > Chat bubble) to get the current Wayspot renamed but if you want a nearby PokéStop, you’d have to look for something in the same cell where the mural was for Scythe and Tea Cup

Aware that Streetview may not be up to date but there seem to be some murals around that area that could be nominated?

As Roli points out you do have “Guildart Street mural #1” a stones throw away from the location

With 2 rejections for that specific location I have submitted one which SHOULD be in the grid that the store’s original spot was that is a mural so would be close enough.
Thanks for the info btw, couldn’t find anything that referenced grids being a factor.

Staff has allowed me to explain in this post:

Quick one on this map while I’m still in the thread, what map are you using to see this with the overlays of the cells and wayspots/pokestops?

That was IITC, which is a modified version of the Ingress Intel Map.

The Pokémon GO and Ingress maps are now separate so removals (like the Scythe and Tea Cup) won’t reflect unless also removed in Ingress. Same with things added to the map, so it’s not as reliable as it once was for any non-Ingress players.

Still, I recommend giving Ingress a try as you’ll need an account to use Intel Map and IITC (you can search for the relevant plug ins) so may as well play the game too.
