This voting system is so inconsistent

literally submitted 2 different building signs from the same university and one got passed and the other denied.
There should be mechanisms in place to prevent this type of inconsistencies.

Imagine 100 reviewers are asked about each submission and it takes 60 positive responses to get a wayspot accepted.

Imagine one got 59 positive responses and the other got 61. This would produce one acceptance and one rejection, yet there is total consistency because that sort of variation is completely normal.

Submission acceptances are the results of multiple opinions. Expecting the opinions to be the same every time is not realistic.

We don’t know exactly how the “automated process” works, but you can help your nomination by making it as clear as possible what you are trying to submit. You have zoomed in so close on the sign that it is difficult to tell if it is a sign, a pamphlet, or what. This will also look bad in game. Here is advice from a post about taking photos that will look great in game:

You can use an appeal on an automated process rejection. We have 2 appeals, each on a 15 day counter before we can use them again. If you don’t have the Appeal button, you need to wait to get one to come back. But since this photo could be greatly improved, I would recommend resubmitting with a new photo. I think it will make it easier for the Machine Learning model to identify this as a potentially eligible nomination if you back up a little. Let us know if you try that.

I understand how the voting system works and thats exactly why the US has an electoral college, however, the end result is still inconsistent since it was literally same place and same cultural value.

So looking at these they are different nominations.

To be honest the one that wasn’t accepted could have been better. If I was presented with that as a reviewer I would be unclear what exactly PHEB at TAMU-SA was I need to work it out from the photo. maybe the auto system couldn’t work it out. The description is for the building. You haven’t said what is so great about it. I would expect it might be educational but as supplement you talk of hanging out so this is a social space . My first impression of the photo was it was may a book cover. A second look helps clarify.

You are familiar with this place the reviewers have never been there, you need to look at through their eyes. Help make it easy for them to vote positively.

The other one, I haven’t seen the full nomination but you might have got lucky. The central academic building at many universities ( certainly in the UK) is an admin building or university offices. That wouldn’t meet criteria .

Take some time to reflect take on board what has been said about the automatic rejection it’s good advice in my personal view. Create a better all round nomination and don’t assume something similar is the same.

The surrounding photo had the sign with the building in the background, the one that got accepted was a photo of the hallway the sign was in so it offered less context yet it passed. The image shows what the PHEB acronim stands for. CAB is actually more likely to get confused for a taxi yet it passed. It shouldn’t be about luck, specially with an algorithm.

Do reflect on this

No auto system is going to be perfect, We have all had things rejected ( several times). But we have appeals to let humans look at it.

Try to reflect on making it easy for when it gets to those humans.

You get more success the more you learn when things don’t go right.

Have you reflected on the fact that there are only so many hours in a day to be reflecting?? I did the thing they asked for me to help them and got conflicting results therefore there’s nothing to reflect about after I almost got to 100 POIs accepted. I’m just not gonna submit those even though they get passed most of the time. But it is frustrating to put in the time and not get results, also this shouldn’t be a matter of appealing just both pass or none.

Noone is forcing you to submit. The system is there, and while its not perfect, i think in your case its already good. Taking @salixsorbus example, you should see that there are some consistency. Occasionally its just matter of slightly failing to meet threshold. The appeal system is there so that if you disagree with rejection, staff can look into it.

Thanks for stating the obvious, once again; this is a general post about how two POIs didn’t match up regardless of the system even though they’re both the same thing but different names actually less than 300 m from each other. Additionally there are others in the area just the same that passed for other buildings, I did not submit those so I didn’t bring up details about those. So there was a clear standard pattern I was following which showed to have a major inconsistency. I’m not gonna appeal it, as you said that’s my choice. I rather use appeals for submissions I actually care about close by my house.

While nominations are reviewed by people in certain area (or people that select that bonus loc), its almost impossible to have exactly same reviewer to review two different nomination even though they are similar nomination in same area. Each nomination will have different reviewer , review them . Hence there might be difference in result depending on who review. Some reviewer might be newer or might be approving/rejecting incorrectly and your nomination just happen to be at the borderline of acceptance/rejection threshold. wayfarer create appeal system, so that you can appeal if you disagree with the result.

I am sorry , i miss that one.

But, If you want your nomination to be reviewed by human, you can either resubmit with better foto until it pass AI check or appeal so that wayfarer staff can check. Neither route guarantee acceptance though. Good luck.

Once again, earlier in the thread I had stated that I didn’t care to use an appeal on this. Please read the whole thread before commenting, it’s poor internet etiquette.

MOD EDIT I just submitted my application, I actually have 3 camp fires for different parts of town, do you know if I should apply for each separately?

I am just trying to help. If you dont want to take advise, its up to you but please remain respectful. I wont comment any further. Goodluck.
