Hi, I live in a little town, Fredericksburg IA, 50630. It is hard to get enough pokeballs to catch Pokémon so I have been walking around and trying to suggest wayspots. Is there anything else I can do to improve my little towns game experience? It is frustrating to have to constantly buy what I can not get! If I drive 45min to anouther town (Debuqe IA,) I can get so many in my bag, but that only last for a day or two. I can not move just for Pokémon, but I really enjoy the game, and want my town to be a great Pokémon town.
Hello and Welcome,
This is the correct and only thing to do. You just have to make sure your suggestions meet criteria.
If you want specific advice on a nomination before you make it please post all the details.. Photos, Title, Description, Supplemental and Location. People will advise but you have to accept that the answer could be “It doesn’t meet criteria”.
Alternatively post the general location (DO NOT USE YOUR HOME ADDRESS), Long / Lat works best and people will scour the maps and make suggestions.
Good Luck
Had a very quick look, and there are definitely more things that should get accepted - here’s a couple I noticed:
Volleyball court:
Playground:
You’d have to double-check if these unfenced playgrounds are on school property. If they are, it’s a no-go, but if not, there are two or maybe even three discrete areas:
Happy to help you find more options if that would be useful ![]()
I would also suggest walking the entire Plum Creek Trail loop and looking for anything that stands out. Trail signs should be an easy win, but bridges can be accepted too if you can show that they look interesting enough to be worth exploring (and I think this one probably is) and / or encourage exercise by providing a shorter walking route. This one might fall into the former category:
You can get a few more down at the Brad niewoehner park. Playground, pavilion, covered picnic table, and pool covered picnic area. There is also another covered table by the pool parking. The assisted living center has a beautifully carved sign. Do they have a community room or a resident garden?
The plum trail doesn’t seem to have many named markers or trail maps. You can work with the parks department and see if they’ll put something up. Even sticker markers work. These crossings might work with a really good write up.
Casey’s pizza happens to fall right on a cell intersection. If you can find art inside as well as the pizza sign then you might be able to get 4 pokestops here.
The sports fields have lots of possibilities as well as long as they are community spaces not school.
The football field, race track, shot put, and long jump can all be seperate waypoints. Potentially the stadium as well. The volleyball has already been mentioned but the basketball court will work too with carefully cell placement. Are there and murals on the home and away team baseball seating? A batting cage?
Requested a location edit on “Upham Memorial Library” which is somewhat misplaced.
Good news is correct location is in an empty cell so it will stay as a stop. Once approved, “Pizza palace” or “Plum creek art” in the old cell should become a new stop ![]()
I would suggest going inside any businesses (especially independent businesses) and checking for artwork. It is best if it’s original and non-advertising artwork. Often businesses themselves will get denied but artwork within them approved. Make sure to look UP too! (I have three approved stops that are murals above shelf units in independent grocery stores).
Churches can also be good places. Particularly Catholic and Orthodox churches, simply because they tend to have more artwork. Like the pizza place someone else mentioned, you might be able to get multiple stops if the facility crosses cell lines (my Catholic church has five - a pre-existing one on the church sign, two that I added that are outdoor statues, one I added for a memorial plaque in a garden area, and one I added for a stained glass window). If they have a social/events hall, that would also qualify.
I know a small town in that part of the country may have few to no such places, but if there are multi-unit residential complexes (apartments or mobile home parks), any athletic facilities they may have and/or a site map would also be useful. Note here that the residential exclusion only applies to single unit properties. I have also seen stops for ornamental fountains in such complexes.
Thank you so much everybody! This is way helpful! Where do I go to see those cross lines?
Awesome!
