Hello everyone,
I need some advice. I am considering applying for signage for our volunteer fire department. The main goal is to make sure it is designed in a way that no emergency access routes are obstructed or blocked.
Now the question is: the sign would already be about 40 meters away from the main building and placed off to the side of the emergency access route. Do you think this makes sense, or is it maybe not useful at all?
To clarify, I am talking about the volunteer fire department.
I’ve attached photos and, of course, the duty schedule to show that it is indeed a volunteer fire department. 51.002267010593094, 7.0354526549245175
Can you demonstrate that this a great object for exploration?
The sign won’t meet Social or Exercise criteria, so this is the only thing left for it to be eligible under.
Would people point it out as a point of interest? That’s the bare minimum requirement.
All in all, the volunteer fire department contributes a lot to the community. They take part in every local festival, but also organize their own tours and activities for both young and old. At regular intervals, there are vehicle exhibitions or trial days for children to learn about the work of the fire department and to present it to the public. For example, in the coming days there will be another event.
I just don’t see this ever passing. Regular fire departments also host events like this but they are still not eligible. The risk of blocking emergency services is too great. And even if there are no emergency services here, I think it’s dangerous to try to ask wayfinders to remember the difference between volunteer departments and regular departments. It’s far more safe to keep it clear that all fire departments are ineligible.
That’s why I asked. I do find it interesting, but safety probably comes first
Also, to add a bit of local knowledge, most Fire Departments are actually volunteer Fore Departments with full functioning equipment.
They are the main (and often only) Fire Departments in germany, especially outside of big Cities.
So they’re just as much fire stations as others, and therefore a wayspot there would block emergency services and is therefore ineligible.
It actually depends on the area. Most rural fire departments are volunteer, while most city/urban fire departments have hired staff. My rural hometown has an all volunteer fire department, but the city I live in now has mostly hired staff, including the firefighters.
Regardless, whether it’s volunteer or hired, they’re fire departments, and a Wayspot at these locations may obstruct emergency services, and that makes them ineligible locations.
