Hi so to clarify I submitted and had accepted 8 new pokestops last week. 3 went on to Pokemon. My question is…. The other 5…. Do niantic still take these for other games? Is it scopley or what now? Just need some clarification as it’s disheartening taking the time to nominate and actually be accepted to not see them on the game!
The formal answer:
All the waypoints are stored in a database, and each game pick a number of waypoints to include in their game, based upon their own inclusion rules.
In the approval message, they mention that the waypoints can be used in the game, and that it’s not a guarantee.
Also, at a later stage, some waypoints can become, for instance, a powerspot later on, or perhaps used for features that’s not currently implemented.
The informal answer:
Although scopely doesn’t confirm or explain the inclusion rules, the community has done research which waypoint will be included and which not. I’m not sure if links are appreciated, but if you search for Pokemongohub and S2 and S17 cells, you will find the answer to that.
Hello and Welcome @duckface100
It’s great that you have been motivated to begin submitting.
You are right it can be overwhelming and confusing trying to understand not only what is acceptable, how to get it accepted and then what has happened to it.
As a community we have all experienced this at some point, and are happy to support you…..so do ask questions.
If you tell us roughly where you are we will give a personalised answer.
The Wayfarer Team won’t talk about the details so everything that follows is from community The submissions you make that are agreed are Wayspots. There can be lots of wayspots close together. These are all held in a database.
The Pokémon Go team can then select from that database what it wants to use and appear in game. This article explains how this is done using some software.
The 2 key points are that
the bigger boxes, Level 14 cells are what determines when you get gyms,
And the smaller boxes, Level 17 cells, are what determines what is selected from the database.
This shows a level 17 with 3 wayspots. The first submitted one A, became a pokestop![]()
After that 2 more wayspots were agreed, but the rule says you can only have 1 wayspot becoming a stop, so they can’t be in the game as pokestops.
The black circle around A is the distance apart that a power spot needs to be from a pokestop. B is inside that so is too close to be a power spot, but C is far enough away that it could be. So although not a suitable to be a pokestop, C could still appear in the game.
B will remain in the database, think of it as being on the subs bench it may get used in future you never know. Other Scopely Explore teams can use the database so it has the potential to be used in another game.
Hopefully this helps explain what is likely to be happening with your wayspots.
