Waypoint Duplicate

I had an nomination rejected as a duplicate. I appealed it because nothing showed up either as a pokestop or as a waypoint on the submission map and there was another art display by the same artist accepted nearby that I thought was causing confusion. Niantic rejected it as a duplicate saying that they could see the duplicate waypoint. How are you supposed to tell if there are existing waypoints if they do not show up on the submission map or in the game? I also don’t understand why the original waypoint isn’t a pokestop in the game as nothing else had been close to this “duplicate" prior to submitting the newer artwork and it being accepted (which also doesn’t show on the submission map either). Can someone help me understand or give me any tips on being able to tell? Do I have to check Ingress too or something?

Are you right at the location when you are doing that nomination map screen check? That does not work remotely at all, and I am not sure that it covers the entire area shown on the map even then.

The other reason you might not see a duplicate is if it is very misplaced. If you would like to leave the location, we can take a look around and see if we can find the duplicate. The gps coordinates will be under the second photo in your submission email if you still have that.

I was at the location when I was submitting them and did not see it. These are the coordinates from the email you mentioned. 39.712614, -84.081216

thank you for the coordinates. i can’t explain the duplicate, but hopefully staff can give you an answer.

Hi @MyBlueSaphire Yes, there is another PokéStop with the title “Sasquatch Family Art” and your Wayspot nomination “Sasquatch Art” is a separate art. This was an incorrect judgement. Hence, I have overturn the decision and approved it. If it is eligible in Pokémon GO, it will appear in few days. Regards,
