Serenity Gardens is a memorial area located within Karrakatta Cemetery. It functions as a designated section within the cemetery that offers specific memorialisation and placement products for families.

Whilst there are specific garden beds (that are utilised mainly for placement), this remains an active area of mourning. It is considered to be a sensitive location that should be avoided out of respect

This cemetery has around 30 wayspots, almost all of which are active in Pokemon Go as pokestops or gyms. Many of these represent points on a visitor trail around the cemetery. This wayspot is one of four gyms.

Is this the only wayspot that is in an active area of the cemetery?

I would recommend reaching out to the property manager and letting them know this game location is there if you are truly concerned about the sensitive location. Staff will honor requests from property managers. They may choose to have all game locations removed.

Thanks for the appeal, @darcythecoolkid . We looked at this location again and stand by our decision not to retire the Wayspot.

The other pokestops in this cemetery mainly relate to historical gravestone walk trails that were established and approved by the Cemeteries Board.

Serenity Gardens is not part of these walking trails.

Whilst it can be argued that the entire cemetery is an active area of mourning, these other pokestops mainly relate to the gravestones of historical or significant community figures and are therefore allowable.
