Wayspot "ガーデンハウス光明台の地図" is missing in Pokémon GO after approved location edit

Hi team,
I recently performed a location edit for a Wayspot to move it into an empty S2 Level 17 cell. The edit was successfully approved, and the status currently shows as “In-game” on the Wayfarer map.

However, after a few days, it completely disappeared from Pokémon GO.

  • Wayspot Title: ガーデンハウス光明台の地図
  • Location: Izumi, Osaka, Japan (大阪府和泉市光明台)
  • Status: Satisfies the 20-meter rule and there are no other Wayspots in the new S2 Level 17 cell. No schools or restricted areas nearby.
  • coordinates: 34.448337, 135.492795

It seems to be a database synchronization error (sync-lock) after the location edit. Could you please manually refresh or force sync this Wayspot to Pokémon GO?

The correct location for this Wayspot puts it in the same L17 S2 cell as an existing Pokestop みずき台1号公園の遊具

so this one losing Pokestop status is expected behavior.

Staff do not acknowledge the use of S2 cells in their game algorithms, but you can read about the community observations on this here: A Comprehensive Guide to S2 Cells and Pokémon GO | Pokémon GO Hub

Also the current location is 34.448352,135.492778 rather than the coordinates you gave, unless I have located the wrong wayspot.

Wanted to address this separately. There is no 20 meter rule for Wayspots to be used as Pokestops. This was a rule for something to become a portal in Ingress, from WAY back in the day when something had to be a portal before it could become aPokestop. That rule has been gone for Pokestops for years, and Ingress is not even part of Wayfarer now since May of 2025.

Please note that location edits should only be requested when the current location is wrong and a better one exists.

If this happens to move the wayspot into an otherwise-empty cell, that is a happy situation, but this is not the reason for wayspots to be moved.

Equally, moving a wayspot into an empty cell at an incorrect location is abuse and risks getting penalised.

The current location of this wayspot is correct - the suggested coordinates are close to it, but further away from the POI and appear to be solely selected in order to nudge the wayspot into an empty cell. Please don’t repeat this with other wayspots as any penalties incurred are applied to your game account as well as your wayfarer account
