Hello! We’ve been having some issues when exploring some of the features involving our beloved local gym. We hope we could receive some assistance, as a location edit in-game was unsuccessful as there’s no way to communicate to Wayfarers the issues we are having.
Wayspot Title: Lia Bhrega Mural
Location / City: Lia Bhrega Estate, The Twenties, Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland (53.730165,-6.351918)
The current location coordinates of the Lia Bhrega Mural gym force players to dangerously hug a physical boundary wall to maintain a connection and complete localized game Routes. There is no safe, wide pedestrian standing room at the current pin position. Players are forced to lean flat against the wall or step out of the proper pedestrian path to interact with the gym or complete the Route.
Our community suggestion would be to put the new coordinates at the location circled in blue, as this is along a path (marked in red) and is still on the wall with the Mural on it. This would be ideal to solve our issues and keep the gym we love so much!
We hope to solve these issues soon and would appreciate assistance!
Wayspots are meant to represent reality. They are not moved to make game access easier. If this where the mural is, this is where the Wayspot should be. It would be considered abuse to try to move the Wayspot away from the actual location of the mural.
I don’t see this mural on street view, but I also don’t see anything dangerous about the location to report it for removal. Please do not put yourself in harm’s way to play Pokemon Go.
Hello and thank you! I wish to clarify, the location in which we would suggest moving it to is still on the mural. I understand that moving it away from it’s location in the real world is not allowed, and I have informed my community of this.
As for the street view, Google maps street view has not been updated to show the recent developments in the area and we have to rely on satellite. If there is anything I can do to help show a better view of the location, please do let me know.
From what I can see on street view and satellite view, there is a large public green space where it seems to be perfectly safe to congregate around the mural in its current location. It seems to be in the correct location.
If anything, from the information we currently have to hand, the only reason I could see for anyone wanting to move this would be so that the white circular thing that’s on satellite view (I’m assuming it’s some form of shelter or gazebo?) would be able to be submitted and show up in Pokémon Go itself, as it currently wouldn’t do so if the mural remains where it is. If that is what you’re trying to achieve, then that would be considered abuse.
Hello and thank you for your response! There is indeed a green and that is where we access the gym. The issue is that the wall is blocking a large portion of access to the gym which is preventing us from finishing routes on the gym. This has been an issue for us for some time. If there is another way to resolve this rather than moving the gym, that would be even better!
As for the bench area. Yes! That’s also a new development in the area. Completely separate. We are looking at submitting that as a Wayspot. From my limited understanding, you can’t have two Pokéstops too close to one another so I’m unsure if it would be any use to us in Pokémon Go, but as long as it fits the guidelines for a Wayspot we will submit it in the hopes it can be of use to one of the other games.
Our issue is just that we cannot reach the gym to finish the route. For raids and battle access, the proximity is wide enough to reach it, but for the route feature you seem to have to be extremely close to the Wayspot which we are unable to achieve without hugging the wall, even sometimes that isn’t enough.
In terms of developments, we are unsure if there will be any more done in the meantime. They are currently working on construction of housing nearby so likely no more unique Wayfarer-acceptable additions for the time being.
Thank you all for your help with this matter. Our community has come together and decided to tackle this problem by removing the old route and creating a new one in the hopes we can stop the path being blocked by the wall. I conclude that a location edit is not deemed necessary and thank everyone for their help with this matter.
