Wayspot placed in private residential building

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Hotel Alpine Inn

  • Location (lat/lon): 26.112400,91.813961

  • City: Guwahati

  • Country: India

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): First, the location is incorrect as it has been placed 100 metres or so off and on the other side of the road. Second, this place has no socialising aspect or historical or cultural significance. Third, this is a hotel and there are dozen of hotels in one km stretch of a road and this is another general hotel.
Most importantly, the wayspot is incorrectly placed at a private residential building and not even the actual hotel location. This is a violation of the rules of Niantic/Scopely.

Thanks for the appeal @Arw3n . We stand by our decision to not retire the Wayspot. That said, I see that the Wayspot has already been moved to its correct location based on your report.

It probably isn’t a violation, as you may have misunderstood the rules around private property, which are not explained properly in several places.

Single-family private residential property is forbidden for wayspots.
All other residential property is OK for wayspot

Where the pin is, which is incorrect, looks like it is probably multi-family residential. Regardless of that, the correct thing to do is to request a location edit not removal.

The POI exists, is safely accessible and is not blatantly ineligible, therefore the wayspot should remain. It’s a small enough edit that you could submit the edit request in Pokemon Go.
