Wayspot Removal Appeal: Restricted Access MBTA Property

I’m not repeating earlier points here. This is the first time I’ve stated that I’ve been in direct contact with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and its property manager regarding this safety concern. That information and their response had not been shared previously in this thread.

That’s a material update, not a restatement. I will continue to share relevant updates as they arise.

So this is a matter between “Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority” and “Niantic”. There is obviously some break down in communication between the 2 so 1 of them needs to take action to move this along. whichever party is causing the break down it doesn’t involve you.

If you want to make sure that you and your family remains safe then you do not have to interact with this waypoint.

If something was to happen then it would be down to the authorities, “Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority” and Niantic so you have nothing to worry about.

You’re framing this like it’s just a coordination issue between the MBTA and Niantic, but that misses the point entirely.

This is fundamentally about the safety of people who actually live here, and the responsibility of those tasked with maintaining safe conditions in this community. That’s where the focus should be.

Respectfully, you’re not part of either group. You don’t live here, and you’re not responsible for public safety here. So I’m not sure why you feel the need to insert yourself or speak on what should or shouldn’t matter to the people who are directly affected.

As for “just don’t interact with it,” that’s not a realistic solution when the issue is about how this impacts the environment around it, not just individual choices. And deferring responsibility until something happens is exactly the kind of thinking that leads to preventable problems in the first place.

I’ll continue raising this with the people who actually have a stake in it and the authority to address it.

This is the first report I have ever seen of Niantic NOT complying with a property owner request. There is an automated reply asking for credentials - is it possible that Mr. Mann did not respond to that if he never heard back? Possibly the email went to a spam folder or something like that?

The information that the 2 bodies are in touch is of no relevance to fellow wayfinders.

It’s good that you have raised concerns and facilitated the key bodies to be in contact. At that point your role is over.
The topics here remain. There is no need to keep adding to it to keep it active.
Keep you and yours safe wherever you play.

I’m not particularly concerned with what is or isn’t “relevant” to wayfinders. This isn’t about curating a tidy forum experience, it’s about maintaining a clear, public record of a safety concern in my neighborhood and how it’s being handled, or not handled, by the parties responsible.

Saying “your role is over” doesn’t really hold weight. There’s no rule that says once a concern is raised, the person affected has to step aside and stop documenting what happens next. In fact, continued updates are exactly how accountability is established.

If the topic remains, as you said, then updates about that topic remain relevant. That’s how a record works.

You’re free to disengage if it’s not useful to you. I’m going to keep this focused on the actual issue and continue adding information that reflects what’s happening.

Correct, nobody else needs to be involved at this time in the proceedings.

Which I have addressed, Don’t interact with said waypoint = no safety issue. The game also gives a warning when opening the game.

Are you?

You posted in an OPEN Forum. There are other options to contact Niantic directly if you only wanted them to repeat what they have already stated.

Why?

How?

You have done your part, you have reported it to both parties. If you reported a crime to the Police that didn’t involve you, do you think they would constantly reply to you asking “so what are you doing now? why did you do that?”

Who have already answered you and will not give you any information regards conversations with other parties.

If you want to continue refusing what everyone else it saying then that is fine, feel free to do that with this post but I will not be replying as you are just going round in circles.

Good Luck.

I get that my last message may have come across a bit sharp, so I’m sorry for that. Let me respond more directly to the point you raised, because it’s really at the core of my frustration with this forum experience:

From what I’ve been able to find, there really aren’t clear alternative ways to contact Niantic directly. There’s no obvious phone number or customer relations email available. This forum has been the only channel where I’ve been able to reach staff at all, and even then the responses from them have been very limited.

At the same time, I’m getting detailed replies from people who don’t live in my neighborhood and aren’t affiliated with Niantic, which makes it harder to focus on the actual issue I’m trying to resolve.

I appreciate you have found this frustrating.
The fellow wayfinders are experienced in interpreting the guidance. As Niantic don’t explain decisions in detail they are simply trying to assist by providing the explanation of how the guidelines are used. They were trying to explain the likely outcome. Their intentions were to be helpful.

The comments that the wayfarer team base their decisions on are the evidence you provide.

The team has interacted and given a response to you direct.

If the management team have used the property owner form they will correspond with them direct and quite rightly not comment outside of that private discussion.

That conversation will reach a conclusion between those 2 parties.
You will have to wait and see outcome.

There is no need for the wayfinder community to comment further on this topic.

Just to state that it was not me that flagged your response.
