I’m confused and disappointed that two of the Wayspots I submitted were recently removed. What is particularly confusing is that one of these Wayspots had previously been approved by Niantic itself following an appeal.

Both Wayspots are permanent, clearly recognizable hiking trail signs located along an established hiking route. The trail is officially marked on maps, is well maintained, and is clearly intended for hikers and outdoor recreation.

Hiking trails and trail markers are valid points of interest because they encourage physical activity, exploration, and interaction with the surrounding environment. These signs are not temporary or ambiguous objects; they are permanent, functional markers that help people navigate and discover the area.

I would therefore appreciate it if you could review the removals again and clarify why these Wayspots were considered ineligible. In particular, I would like to understand why a Wayspot that was previously approved by Niantic following an appeal has now been removed.

I also noticed that another trail sign along the same route has disappeared, although I was not the person who submitted that Wayspot. This makes me wonder whether there may have been a broader issue with Wayspots along this hiking trail.

Thank you for taking the time to review this. I would appreciate a reconsideration of the removals and an explanation of the criteria that led to these decisions.

Thank you for answering.

Where can I see the coordinates?

Is a screenshot from the place helpful, too?

According to the website, the trails for the park do not pass through the streets you posted these from:

> **[Zertifizierte Wanderwege | Wanderwege | Naturpark RheinTaunus](https://www.naturpark-rhein-taunus.de/de/Wege/ZertifWege/ZertiWege/)**

So the issue seems that they could have been removed because it is thought those are not (real) trail markers?

They are real trail markers.

On the website you posted, you can click in the dropdown menu on the left on “Freizeitwegenetz” and see the explanation to this marker.

There is also an actual routing map on this site, which clearly shows that on this street is a route.

In the explanation for my Wayspot I posted one older version of the route map.

But somehow the feedback of my community is the same: at the moment a lot of trail markers, which were approved, were deleted.

I am only confused because one of my markers were approved directly by Niantic after an appeal.

Scopely reviewers can, like regular reviewers, fail to review according to criteria. Decision from them are not defining criteria or are more worth than from the regular community

That map does show a trail running along this street. I was unable to match to the map that @kawin240 provided, but as they know this region better than me, they might be able to explain the discrepancy?

Thanks for the appeal, @MariaSunshine! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire the Wayspots.
