I believe this removal was unjustified. This pokestop has been present since the early days of the game and represents a legitimate piece of public artwork. The artwork was promoted and supported by the local city council as a legal and recognized form of artistic expression, making it a valid cultural point of interest within the community.
Furthermore, similar works can be found throughout the city and have become a distinctive part of its identity and urban landscape. These artworks are well known to local residents and visitors alike and contribute to the cultural character of the area.
Given its cultural significance, public accessibility, and long-standing presence as a recognized point of interest, I respectfully request that this Wayspot be reviewed and reinstated.
I checked Ingress as you said this was a long standing wayspot, and sure enough it must’ve been accepted before Ingress split from the database.
I am struggling to find this artwork on street view. The wayspot was very clearly misplaced, as the coordinates you provided (which is where the equivalent portal is in Ingress) are on a large building, whilst the picture of the wayspot appears to be somewhere in the park across the street.
I suspect it may have been reported for not existing at the location where it was pinned. Would you be able to get geotagged photos that show where the art actually is?
You can’t be too sad if this wayspot has been removed, given that this area has more pokestops than could normally be achieved (several cells have multiple wayspots).
The wayspot is a bit misplaced, but that wayspot has been there since 2016. I mean, this is about a person who is trying to remove as many pokestops and gyms as possible. He have already threatened us in a local group and have already removed a few more. Thats why I wanted to try to recover them and leave things as they were…
OK, I suspect you know exactly what is going on here. You have had to go back to the 2017 streetview images to show that this mural existed in 2017, but the 2018, 2019, 2022, 2022, 2023 and 2024 images show that was been removed a long time ago.
(To see this, go a little south from the former-wayspot location, enter streetview, turn round and look NNW.)
This mural does not exist.
It is very likely that the person threatening you has actually said they are going to clean up the map by getting ineligible and non-existent wayspots removed. They are absolutely correct to do this and you have no legitimate reason to complain about it.
