Wayspot restoration request

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Braine-l’Alleud – Flèche du parcours cycliste
  • Location (lat/lon): 50.698677°, 4.373824°
  • City: Braine-l’Alleud
  • Street : Rue Stanislas-André Steeman
  • Country: Belgium
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): N/A
  • Additional Information (if any):

I am appealing the removal of this Wayspot because the physical Wayspot is still present at its original location.

It is a permanent cycling route sign attached to a public street lamp, directly alongside the sidewalk. The sign is still clearly visible at this location.

The Wayspot is located in public space and can be safely accessed from the sidewalk without entering private property or standing in the roadway.

The street lamp itself has since been replaced, but the cycling route sign is still present at the same location. The recent photograph shows the sign attached to the new LED street lamp installed in 2026.

I have attached photographs showing:

  • the Wayspot still physically present;
  • its position alongside the public sidewalk;
  • the surrounding area and its accessibility;
  • the previous street lamp and the same cycling route sign in older Street View imagery;
  • the current LED street lamp and the sign in a recent photograph.

These images demonstrate that the physical Wayspot has not disappeared or been removed. Only the street lamp supporting it has been replaced.

I would therefore kindly ask that this Wayspot be reviewed and restored.

Wayspot proof

Photo taken on September 9, 2026 – current & same location of the Wayspot and the new LED street lamp installed in 2026

The lamp head was changed to a new LED fixture in 2026. The cycling route sign remains attached to the same original lamp post, at the same location.

The recent photograph shows the sign still attached to this lamp post, while the older Street View imagery shows the same sign on the same post before the lamp head was replaced.

Thank you for reviewing this restoration request.

Given that this marker is tied onto the lamp-post with straps, you could provide more information.

  • A close-up photo of the marker. All of yours are from a long way away making it hard to see what the marker actually is.

  • A description of what this marker is for.

  • Evidence (other than this marker) that this trail exists and passes through this point.

All four streetview images (2009, 2013, 2022, 2025) show the same street lamp with the same head, with the marker existing only in the latest 2025 image.

I only just saw this, it was so small. If this is from a website, provide the URL. This image by itself is proof of nothing.

It proves that the wayspot used to exist I suppose.

It’s a tiny image that proves nothing.

I assume what is meant that as it did appear on the 1 Street View image it does prove it existed at 1 point unless the nominator kept an eye out for the google camera car and rushed out.

I did check out “Open Cycle Map” which did not show anything for location. I wouldn’t take Open Cycle Map as gospel but added to the other comments it doesn’t look good.

The OP needs to show evidence that…

  • It exists.
  • It’s official.
  • The trail goes through this location.

Thanks for the appeal, @CricrounetteF! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
