The aim of this topic is to create an informal resource for advice around websubmit. Hopefully it is community driven drawing on experience, to collect advice to help fellow wayfinders on getting the most from using websubmit.
You can discuss pros and cons and raise questions in this overall topic. but try to only post here a post with advice.
I would like to gather posts here on various aspects of websubmit that you have found helpful or even a problem / change in approach that worked for you.
Smaller posts dealing with different aspects will be good. If you have already done something as a reply elsewhere by all means copy it into this topic ( no need to reinvent the wheel
)
Screenshots photos etc all welcome.
A relevant title will help to find it.
I will try and tidy up at some point
Supplementary images
With websubmit you can have up to 5 additional images to help support your nomination.
Use them creatively to let the reviewer understand more about your nomination.
Help verify location.
Take several photos from different angles to show the object in its surroundings to help confirm location
Use a screenshot to show information to help confirm where it is and what it is.
Include photos of information boards that explain more.
Have an image with GPS data.
Here is a main image and 3 supporting ones
I included a picture of an information board as it showed the position but also more details about it. The other 2 are from different angles to help locate it.
More examples of creative use welcome
Draft submit
If you are short on time or have low service than you can create a draft at the location with just the pin and a title as short as 1 letter. Then when you have time and good connection you can add the photos, description and nice title. ( I advise titles of at least one word so you can remember them later.)
The web submit can take a long time saving when you add photos the first time so skipping photos will reduce drag.
Pin placement
Try to get the draft created when you’re right at the location to get the location pin as accurate as possible.
Just about touch the object when you first create the submission.
Still check once you upload, GPS can go a bit “wobbly” at times…
Pin placement
If you choose to save as draft you can check the placement and adjust it within a 80m radius of the original pin, prior to submission.
