What makes a statue a non ”normal” statue?

I submitted a statue and it was denied after upgrading by the community due to inaccessible location. Are bots reviewing the appeals now as I have had multiple dumb appeal rejections such as them being unsure if it exists when I used 6 photos to prove its location or a bunker not having any historic context because I didn’t link an article about why like it feels as if these things would be obvious, but can someone tell me what the difference between a ”normal” statue and a special statue is??? I am baffled.

Like they even forgot to remove the ” at the start of the appeal reason like be for real? No human would start any paragraph with ” and not end with a final ”

They even link me to a non existent page??? It must be bots right? https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en27-wayfarer/faq/6620//20-forum-criteria-discussions-library/

We can not advise in regards to the nomination without seeing it. Most people here are not staff so don’t have access to your account (Staff will be obvious using a name starting Niantic (They are currently re-branding so this may change to something like “ScopelyExplore”)).

All “Appeals” are done by “human” staff. They do use scripted responses that don’t always come over great.

Give reviewers as much as you can. It’s easier for 1 Submitter to gather the evidence than all the Reviewers.

Again, probably just a copy and paste error.

Good Luck

You’re welcome to share screenshots of these nominations if you wish, and we can try to see if we can help you understand why they were rejected (or we can agree with you if the decisions don’t make any sense to us, either).

Statue, I could probably have name dropped the building as it has won the most famous architectural prize in Sweden (only one gets the award every year) but I didn’t think it would be necessary to name dropped it as I felt a statue doesn’t need too much to prove its worth but I guess not… https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/qhftlFzHFL8M-pjLfkKZnF-fLWn9ubKT2OIkLh8QCbzbZ_A_FWrrvGcTaEknTtDiqMzPY434gyUNm7FZByEzVxAg3V4JRZLOqNx0Aqs=s0

Bunker that was denied by the community for location and accessibility and then denied by appeal after proving location accessibility for cultural and historical significance. I get that they may not know some more niche buildings and structures history [mod edit]

Like what I don’t understand is what distinguishes a normal statue from a special statue??? Do I need to say and prove it was hand tailored by John Statuesmith in the year of the lord?

****mod edit to remove inappropriate language

The working link for me is still https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/faq/4693-forum-criteria-discussions-library/
I wonder if this has to do with the shift to Scopely Explore

If you go back on your link, you see that has part has changed already

This is not a statue. I am confused. What point are you making with this photo?

Hello @EmperorTeddy

I appreciate you are feeling frustrated about the outcomes of your submissions, but please remain respectful to your fellow wayfinders here and use appropriate language.

Check the first link in their post, that’s the image of the statue. The bunker is related to another submission.

ty that explains why it didn’t make sense. that statue is something…

To clarify this is regards 2 separate submissions.

If you wish the community to assist we will need to see for each:

The full original submission

If you know them the rejection reasons, and if it was auto reject or community

The appeal statement

And appeal outcome.

We need all this so that we can view it as those reviewing saw it.

I don’t know if you can see the first link or not but is a human sized figure not a statue?

My original submission I only knew info about the building it stands atop ok as it is recognised for the architecture. So I just tried describing the statue to my best ability by just calling it a birch man as he is wielding a stick of birch. It’s probably inspired by the finish series moomin but I can’t say that as it isn’t real proof. My supplementary I copied the wayfarer criteria to make sure the reviewers know that it can’t be denied for accessibility reasons which they did regardless, so the advice I’ve heard here and elsewhere about people reading supplementary is pretty much null… then I just vaguely mentioned that it is in a social gathering spot as you can see in the photos where there are people and a bunch of benches littered across the rooftop. I also vaguely mentioned the architectural collective project that designed the building as I assumed it was part of that group however I still don’t understand what makes a statue non-normal and legible…

Statue was denied for being not permanent or distinct as I used upgrade thinking it would obviously come through as well as being in an unsafe/not publicly accessible when I have followed the guidance of the people here and addded the text of what defines the public access criteria. So in my appeal I stated

I would assume it’s permanent and distinct, a bit unkempt but yeah. I don’t understand why it was denied for being unsafe or publicly accessible when in the photos you can see it’s safe and accessible. I even tried helping by giving them the definition you had put out on your website:

This is the appeal bots answer or unlikely human:

Niantic Note

"Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The nomination in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as it is a normal statue that seems non-distinct and lacks significance. If this assessment is not accurate, please resubmit the nomination with additional context. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria and Forum Criteria Discussions Library sections before submitting your next Wayspot contribution: Niantic Technical Support and Help Center and https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en27-wayfarer/faq/6620//20-forum-criteria-discussions-library/

Reviewers provided these top reasons for not accepting this submission:
  1. The submission lacks uniqueness or historical and cultural meaning

Can you please tell me also what defines art? What separates a normal statue from a non normal statue as in the criteria the bot linked to it does appear as if this is legible in all shapes and forms it’s not vandalism and it’s not generic??? Like??? Are we defining what is art and isn’t like in 1938 now?

There is also an edit function for a reason if someone in the future is more knowledgeable they can edit…

Can you please share complete detail of your nomination. Its hard to comment in detail without seeing full nomination. We will need title, description, original main/surrounding foto, information, location, dll. You can screen shoot them from your contribution page

You can find the coordinate from thank you email that you got when you submit nomination

We do need to see the submission in order to help.

I am a little puzzled and it may be a use of language issue, but it reads as though you haven’t been to see the actual figure up close?

If it is visible from the ground then it is fine to have a photo and description that matches seeing from the ground.

The response from the appeal is not written by an auto system, but the community has seen it does use standard text that has standard phrases inserted. When you receive this it can feel very jarring especially the use of the word “normal”. If you read back through forum comments you will see it is a point of frustration.

So although frustrating I would recommend not to focus on that aspect.

We do have a clarification guideline about art for wayfinders

But it is not prescriptive.

Sharing your nomination is the best way for us to help and for you to find a good way forward.
