I have seen some of the pokestops, though all hidden (not on map), removed one by one. Do anybody know why? Nobody in my area likely removed any of it as most of the people’s “remove report” are all denied. Do anybody have an answer?
Welcome to the forum!
Anyone anywhere can report a Wayspot from the Wayfarer map if they see one that should not be on the map. It does not have to be someone from the area. These reports go to staff for review, and if staff agree they should be, they are removed.
Another reason that game locations may go away is if a property owner requests it.
If you have some that you do not think should have been removed, there is a Category here where you can ask for reinstatement: Wayspot Appeals
If you ask for the Wayspot to be returned, be prepared to present evidence to prove that it should be returned. For example, that it still exists, that the location is eligible, and that it meets criteria. Staff do not remove Wayspots unless they have convincing evidence that they should be removed.
If I misunderstood this, please feel free to ask again. You can use any language you like. We have a translate button for forum posts.
That does make sense. Though I do have a question, why does my requests of removal often get rejected when the physical object doesn’t exist? Much of my requests of removal are left rejected without any clear reason. Even though it is just one waypoint where it is hidden from the actual pokemon go map, I’m just curious how that gets removed while the request I made to the same pokestop goes rejected. If you understand, in a way that I’m not asking for returning the pokestop, just a question how the rejection process work in a way as it does seem a bit one-sided.
The team really wants proof something is gone before they remove it. It can be hard to prove that something is NOT there. They will also mark a report as “rejected” if they have already processed someone else’s report for it.
You can also use that Wayspot Appeals category to appeal a rejected removal report.
Apologies if this is a really stupid question, but can you send a photo as proof? I use the niantic wayfarer website, the in-browser report function, yet there is no option to add a image. Is this the correct way of reporting or am I supposed to report in pokemon go (though the pokestop isn’t “in-game”).
There are lots of ways to report. The map report does not let you send a photo, but the in game report does. Or you can use either of the reporting forms listed at the top.
Yes. If you make the report in game then there is the option to add a photo. If you do it on the website you can add a description of why but not a photo.
Hm, makes sense. Perhaps only the software or I heard a artificial intelligence removing stuff? Since the pokestop removed is not in-game due to the L17 rule or what not, I guess I’ll leave it here. Thanks niktero and cyndiepooh!
Every removal request is evaluated by human staff.
