Why do i get 80% Poi’s from Czechia, i cant read the language so it makes it pretty hard sometimes to judge on the Poi and i cant skip all of them.
can i change something in the settings to get less or is that normal?

You reviews should depend on your Home Location, Bonus Location and “Current Play Area”.
Home Location: Is meant to be a 1 time set. If you have made an error Staff “may” do a one off reset.
Bonus Location: This can be changed around every 3 months in “Settings”.
Current Play Area: Is not shown to you but should be obvious.
The problem can be that the radius where you can receive reviews is quite large and even larger when someone uses upgrades.
I don’t have the issue as being UK based and quite central I do reviews across the country but the rest is water. If you have land connected neighbouring countries you could receive reviews from there.
Good Luck
yea its all set in my area, iam in austria about 80km to the boarder of czechia.
well then i will just take a week break and hope i get pois from austria/germany again
ty for the replay ![]()
You have made me look at my settings and I recently decided to set my Bonus to Canada. Geography is not my best subject so I did a virtual dart throw. Seems I have landed just south of Washi Lake and I am not receiving anything to review.
Note to Staff: If you read this a Bonus Area reset would be appreciated ![]()
Most will suggest that the Bonus area is set somewhere different to you home location, the radius is wide (someone will know the figures) so if you change to another country where you can understand the language / culture then this should get you more that you understand and less (as a percentage) from Czechia…
Your options are to skip the ones in a language you don’t know or use translation tools. I use the basic method of copying the text into a tab for google translate when I am reviewing in other languages.
I had the same problem - my play area and my home address are both within 40 km of a language boundary (in my case USA/Mexico). When I posted here I got spammed with advice on how to translate, but instructed me to use buttons I cannot find in my browser… and skipping that many was causing me to get lockouts. (Oh and a couple people who said I should just learn the language!)
I did set my bonus location 900 km in the opposite direction. It didn’t really help.
I wound up completely quitting reviewing once I got the platinum medal.
They really should offer built in translation. Or else make a separate “language skip” option that doesn’t trigger lockouts.
It is not an issue for me, Home covers the UK and I select English speaking locations for the Bonus.
I love the Idea of a “language” option, I don’t think a “Language Skip” would be ideal as people would use it instead of the normal Skip but I am sure that the system could identify the language used and give people the option to only see reviews in the browsers default language.
Translation is not always perfect so if I said only send me reviews that are in English.
I know that I could review in other languages and many obvious Accepts / Rejects could be done without translation but it is just an extra hoop to jump through that I don’t need ![]()
The other option could be a “country map” but it all depends on the time Scopely would want to put in to coding it. When you select your locations it shows the map and radius it will send to you, you could then un-select countries you don’t want to review in.
I think the issue is that it isn’t a big problem for many people (including me) so if a small percentage decide not to review it is not detrimental enough to warrant coders time.
Unfortunately your “local” review area extends about 200km in each direction so you definitely overlap Czechia. The best advice I can give is to have Google translate (or your preferred service) open in a second window and copy/paste the words when you are reviewing. The system was imagined and designed by people in North America where countries are so large that this is not often an issue.
I also get nominations from my neighbouring countries. Mostly Sweden, sometimes Germany (I’m in Denmark). It’s crazy how large the radius is. I just skip when it’s not my own country.
It’s frustrating when I’m getting the ones where you’re supposed to choose which title is the best, or what wording makes most sense. It’s not in my own language, so how can I do that?
It would make sense if we could change the settings to avoid other countries.
I tried that, but I get so many mexican ones that I was getting lockouts due to “excessive” skipping.
Oh, that must be really frustrating!
I don’t think it makes any sense, that we are supposed to review in other countries and languages. Then we are we even setting our home area? ![]()
Oh mine is set. It’s just that I live pretty close to the border (home address to border is 26 km straight line), and there’s a major city right there. So it sends them to me based on them being “local”, and there’s a lot. I set my bonus location 900 km in the other direction and it had practically no impact.
The lockout periods would be 24 hours, I think once was longer. Because apparently not being able to review in a foreign language is something they punish.
I ended up completely quitting reviewing, about three months ago.
While I admire the attempt to be helpful, this information is entirely incorrect. We don’t punish people for not being able to review because of language or any other factor.
My
is for Aaron making it clear that you don’t get punished for not reviewing a nomination.
I completely get being frustrated by not feeling you can review the nominations you are getting. I was able to set up Chrome to translate when we were doing Challenges in other countries, but I could not begin to review those if I didn’t have that, and still had to skip when there were other factors I couldn’t get through translation.
I stopped reading after the first five words (if the emoji can be considered a word)![]()
Then explain why every lockout started immediately after skipping Spanish ones.
As somebody who’s first language is a “small” one (Danish is only spoken by around 6 million people) I would never consider using Google translate for anything other than to get the idea of a text.
If I were to write a sentence in Danish, and then translate it by using Google, I would get something where the context is clear, but oftentimes it’s just not accurate enough to properly depend on. It’s always very clear, when something has been translated through a machine..
So to use it to review descriptions, titles and stuff like that, isn’t very meaningful to me ![]()
