Will this be accepted

I made this library for the neighbors the public and for a Pokemon stop. This is directly on a public sidewalk. Title was free little library and was rejected by the automatic system it says. Waiting for my actual sign for it and the number to be on the map
So I appealed

Mod edit to remove Personal info

Looks like it’s probably ineligible due to being on single family residential property. The Wayfarer rules are very strict about that, it specifically has been applied even to artwork mounted on property line fences and walls. LFLs do sometimes get accepted, but usually when they are on the street side of the sidewalk (within public right of way) or at parks or multi-unit complexes.

However, usually the automated rejections seem to be more about the quality or content of the photographs. In this case, I would guess it’s because of the angle and distance involved? But that’s just a guess.

Still… I would not appeal or resubmit this.

This Little Free Library meets Wayfarer criteria because it is placed in the public right‑of‑way between the sidewalk and the street. It is fully accessible to everyone without entering private property, encourages community engagement, and is consistent with other accepted Little Free Libraries in the area.

They must be in an eligible location. On the SFPRP homeowner side of the sidewalk is not an eligible location.

It does not appear to be.

“Little Free Libraries (LFL) can be eligible for nomination, but their location is critical to whether they can be accepted. Little Free Libraries with safe access on sidewalks outside of apartment buildings or on municipal or communal property are eligible“

Just like this

That is not a single family private residential property.

It’s not on private property It’s not bothering anyone and can be used just by walking on the sidewalk with just one arm even

You will get a decision on the appeal from the team. I have pointed you to the guidelines. They are not my rules. They are the Wayfarer rules. Debating this serves no purpose. I am glad you did something nice for your community.

The OP has indicated that this is their home. I don’t think we should ask for coordinates.

It’s not on my house property it’s accessible walking on a side walk for the public

I understand. It’s beautiful and your community will enjoy it.

Then here is the address from the nomination:

This does not show the coordinates where you pinned it. You can get those from the submission email after the photos if you still have it.

There is another helpful comment from the team in the past, so let me share it with you.

This topic contains personal information. Even if the OP disclosed it themselves, shouldn’t we handle it with care?

I said that we shouldn’t ask for coordinates since it was their home, and they replied that it was not. And I flagged my comment for staff.

I have zero problem if they want to remove it. But the street view indicates the difference in the kind of building they pointed out in the clarification and the one at the address submitted.

I’m confused here what are you saying? I said that I made it for the neighbors, my child in fact and people who walk the streets. Not just for pokemon lol what

Understood. Let’s leave it to the staff to handle.

The blue library pictured is not on the street side of the sidewalk.

That’s the building side of the sidewalk.

Being reachable from the sidewalk does not fulfill the Wayfarer rules, as I said earlier, they are very strict about single family residential properties including the boundary lines. That library would be eligible only if the property it is on is not disallowed for being single family residential, or a school. The map screenshot you provided, however, seems to picture a series of single family houses.

The homeowner’s intent is not taken into account in the Wayfarer rule regarding single family residential - there are no exceptions.

Please read carefully!

That red one… or any others you may be familiar with… are allowed to be accepted if the property is NOT a single family residential or a school (or a few other, rarer things). Such as an apartment building. Apartment buildings are actually great places to find things to submit - I’m in California and over a quarter of my approved stops are apartment building or mobile home park swimming pools, plus a smaller number of other apartment complex/ mobile home park amenities: dog parks, barbecue stations, or site maps.
