16 Wayspots lost in Africa

Hello,

I recently came across 16 Wayspots located in Africa that are actually supposed to be elsewhere. Fortunately, I managed to identify the correct locations for all of them.

I decided to create a topic rather than reporting them individually through the support chat (>10m location edit), mainly because of the number of Wayspots involved, and also because I thought it would be useful to make the community aware that this issue may exist beyond these examples.

Interestingly, the last nine are Indian Wayspots with no image, created automatically by Niantic.

Could the Wayfarer staff please take a look and, if everything checks out, correct the locations of these Wayspots?

And perhaps more importantly: these may not be the only ones. Finding these 16 was more or less a case of following a trail of suspicious locations in African deserts and forests, so there could be others hiding out there.

Instead of using the help chat, you can do mass moves with the " Request modification or removal of a PokéStop or Gym" form. I’ve done it.

Since you have posted here already, staff will often action something like this from a post on the forum. I would wait and see if they do before you submit a report, too.

Looking at the Wayspots, it appears that all the Wayspots with photos date back to 2015 and earlier. Pokemon Go didn’t exist until 2016 so these Wayspot were submitted via Ingress OPR. So maybe a GPS error during submission in Ingress. The Wayspots without photos and descriptions from 2024 are more than likely Imported Wayspots with the wrong GPS.
