I’m new here, and I come with a question and to ask for ideas.
I had a submission reported for abuse, with the reasoning; image is third party, and some form of harassment. I’m reposting here because it’s actually a first-party image, and I think harassment was likely a mistake.
Question; How do you get a submission in, without triggering this automated problem?
I think the cause was; I took the photo, had to upload it to a form with limited file sizes that doesn’t support the native photo format (HEIC). So, I converted it to jpg and shrunk it to approx 1/4 resolution.
In the process this probably stripped its metadata; triggering the third-party image issue.
Anyone got ideas on how I can get this right?
The submission is over the road so retaking photos won’t be an issue, but I’m stuck for ideas on how I can submit it; the native file size and type aren’t accepted.
I guess the other ask is; does anyone disagree with me on the harassment, if there’s a genuine problem there I’d like to know so I can get it right.
A third-party image flag is set when enough reviewers choose this as a rejection reason. The metadata is irrelevant as reviewers do not see this.
I suspect the problem stemmed from this being a completely ineligible submission and enough reviewers pick the “wrong” rejection reason that this flag was set. A lot of reviewers don’t know the “right” way to reject something that is not eligible, because there isn’t one.
Please don’t resubmit this. It is not a place that strongly encourages Exercise, Socialisation or Exploration.
The clouds are an obvious giveaway once you find the photo.
@JamesCodesThing You’ve managed to take something definitely ineligible, knowingly use a third-party photo, get caught and then claim you took the photo yourself. Wayfarer isn’t hard and there are things to be found that are eligible, but it would help you if you read the links I posted above.
The annoying part is that I understand that people are not aware of the rules and use 3rd Party Image but once it has been identified don’t try to make up a story and post it on the official forum.
Google Lens is so easy to use these days to show matching images
For the OP…
I have 2 suggestions…
1:
Pick the nomination you believe meets the criteria the most.
Create a post in “Nomination Support” before you nominate asking to advice.
Include main and supplemental photos, Title, Description, Supplemental Info and Location (Long / Lat works best).
People here will advise but you have to accept that this could be “Good to Go”, “Requires Improvement by…” or “Does not meet criteria and should not be nominated”.
2:
Create a post in “Nomination Support” asking for suggestions.
Post your general location (Long / Lat works best). DO NOT USE YOUR HOME ADDRESS.
People here will scour the maps.
Again, you have to accept that some areas just don’t have anything eligible but it is rare.
That is 100% my mistake; this photo was from a third-party source, I mis-remembered. I took 4 and then one was a recent photo I must have saved to gallery after the news of the opening took.
I’ve edited my original message to strike the mistake and remove the image again.
It’s been a month; memory is a nightmare.
100% on me; third-party photo was the reason and is completely legitimate.
I have to say though; Terrible system, the reason I didn’t spot I’d done it is Scopely’s “dashboard” is a B2B looking thing with too many options, takes ages to understand where to even go to find the submission I’ve made. The communication is horrible; Threatening tone with nominal actual information to fix the problem. And, well this community and the communication above was horrible; I never want to interact again. Maybe the guidelines should focus more on tone and how to increase positive adoption.
Anyway, I’m out, thanks for the genuine information, that was definitely my mistake. But, this was absolutely horrible, all the best.
I wanted to ensure you reach another message to hear; that was terrible, this was horrible to read, your team should be focusing on positive adoption and getting things right. I genuinely came here for help, had made a mistake and owned it, your message was smarmy, came off over the top and unnecessary. Do better.
I’m sorry you read this into what @ScopelyExpAaron said, but it was phrased perfectly normally, without being smarmy and contained only what was necessary. Since you had stated the photo was yours, it was necessary for Scopely to point out it wasn’t.
Sorry that the experience here was not what you had hoped for. Text based exchanges can accidentally go awry.
Reading your posts and changes it is clear that you are now realising the issues….it is not always obvious what you should and shouldn’t do as you submit.
So now that you have learned from that, you can submit and do better.
Shops such as Aldi are simp,y not eligible…..
However some of the big supermarkets have got community notice boards inside. Have a look and see if there is one. Those are eligible. I have submitted ones in Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and the co op.
What sort of spaces are there around there are there any groups of benches facing each other to make chatting otherwise known as socialising easy. Some new areas if there are a couple of shops might have a small play area for kids. Is there anything there as an information board to reflect the previous use of the land.
In other words it’s sometimes not about the big things but the little objects that are worth looking at.
