On August 29th, during my vacation in England, I made this nomitation and it was accepted, but the Waypoint does not exist in the Wayfarer’s map (neither pokestop o something else).
Here follows the details of the nomination ‘Historic Victorian Lamp’ (screenshots).
I’m wondering if it was reported and removed due to being similar to the Dolphin Lamp wayspot at 51.502528, -0.119636, as this style of lamp seems to be used multiple times along the length of The Queen’s Walk.
Though if it had been reported for being a duplicate, your photo should’ve been added to it, and it wasn’t, so I’m not sure what’s up with that.
Looks to me like there’s a geoblock covering that garden, so that’d be why.
Some property owner requests result in the wayspots not being displayed on the vanilla Wayfarer map, only on the “duplicate check” while submitting, which is very confusing. That’d be one of these cases.
Not in the (public) garden, but along the pedestrian area at South End. I suppose this is a bug to be solved by Scopely, first time in years (I have nearly 12000 agreements and hundreds of stops created)
Sorry, I don’t get your point. This has all the hallmarks of a property owner request at this specific location, due to which wayspots are accepted and cannot come into Pokémon GO, and it covers the location of your wayspot too, I can see it right here using extra tools. Public gardens and pedestrian areas can be geoblocked too if their management requests it.
Ok, thanks for your interest. It is the first time I face this problem of ‘geoblocking’.
Can you tell me which tools can be used to get a view like that one, with cells and so on? I usually nominate on-spot with my iPhone, as I always did since the Ingress aera.
Standard Warning: This is not aimed at the OP or anyone in particular…
Do not use the knowledge of cells to mis-place nominations to try and get them in to the game. You are risking Warnings / Suspensions on both Wayfarer and GAME accounts.
Knowledge of cells should only be used so that you are pre-aware whether a nomination is likely to be a stop / gym or a powerspot.
It can also be used where certain points of interest have more than 1 legitimate location. Example: Sports Field. It is recommended to place at the edge but off the field of play. This could give an option of more than 1 cell.
Once a nomination has been accepted and the location is seen as Acceptable you should not attempt to move it for game purposes. This can also risk your accounts. Location edits should only be attempted when the current location is incorrect. Example: From the field of play to the side.
Ambassadors use unofficial tools in the official forum… fantastic!
Anyhow, nobody is using the knowledge of cells for bad purposes. In this case the nomination is perfect, it is correctly located in a free cell and in a safe public space. Hope the official staff will take a look asap
Ambassadors are not staff. As long as they do not use them for game manipulation it is fine.
Maybe not in this case which is why my post starts with “Standard Warning: This is not aimed at the OP or anyone in particular…” but people do use the cells to mis-place wayspots to try and get something in to the game.
I place the “Warning” whenever I reply to anybody asking about the tools. Remember that other people may find this thread when looking for answers to their own issues and I don’t want to be accused of giving information that others use and get Warnings / Suspensions without making it clear that the knowledge should not be used for those purposes.
Wayspots in public locations can be geoblocked for two basic reasons:
a local property owner has requested this and the wayspot is close enough to their property to get included. The geoblock is not restricted to just the private property as you can have problems with issues near to your property.
the landowner of the public property has requested this. Civil bodies can and do request geoblocks.
