Closed business on another map

I’m trying to nominate our theater and I’m thinking it probably won’t show up because it’s right next to another spot that’s marked as used in another game. The thing is, it was an appliance store that I think should have been out as generic anyway, and it’s also now out of business. Is there any way for me to ask for that spot to be removed, so our art deco theater has a chance?

Wayspot Submission for Odeon Theater

Tucumcari NM

IN QUEUE

2025-08-26

Description

Historic Odeon Theater in downtown Mainstreet area

Location

123 S 2nd St, Tucumcari, NM 88401, USA

Supplemental Information

While this way spot may not show up in my game - The listed historic Odeon theater has been around for decades and is still showing movies in a small independent owned and operated venue. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odeon_Theater\_(Tucumcari,\_New_Mexico)

According to the Intel Map as of the split in May this year it may be sharing a cell with “Welcome To Tucumari Mural“.

The other game (i believe) could be a powerspot.

The powerspot should not cause a problem but the Mural waypoint might.

Edit: Think I need new glasses.

The Mural is in another cell so unless something as been added since May you should be fine with this.

The exclamation points on the nomination map say they are Wayspots that may be used in other games, but they aren’t always, as the other Scopely games rarely have regular syncs. Most likely they are either Wayspots that are in the same L17 S2 cell as another that is already a stop/gym in PoGo, or an imported Power Spot. I’m thinking that the appliance store is an imported Power Spot, as many of those have had some incorrect info or just no longer exist.

You can request removals for Power Spots that no longer exist. I’ve done this for an area where I live that used to have a K-Mart and Sears appliance store, and every so often these will pop up as Power Spots, even though those closed in 2019 and the site has been redeveloped into a small shopping plaza and an apartment building.

If you would like to know more about the S2 cells and how they work in PoGo, please see this post:

More info on Power Spots in general can be found here:

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation. I didn’t know that about the exclamation points at all. I’ll definitely try to keep an eye out for defunct poi power spots from now on. Sadly I think I already tripped myself up as I added a new waypoint within that cell a week ago. I love the Tardis pop art, but I’ll be kicking myself for adding it before checking the Odeon.
