Hello everyone,
Whilst taking a walk through a small village, I noticed this sign:
For anyone who doesn’t recognise German signs:
This is an information sign explaining that this building was made possible thanks to investment in this rural area by the European Union, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and the state of Brandenburg.
I haven’t submitted the location yet, as I don’t want to be banned for suggestions that break the guidelines.
Until now, I’ve always been able to follow the examples and guidelines for submitting POI. Unfortunately, however, I couldn’t find anything about a place like that.
For me, it would be an interesting place that invites you to explore it. I mean, how often do you get to see projects that have been made possible by the European Union?
At the same time, though, the building itself isn’t exactly a must-see. It’s simply a shed for storing straw.
The most interesting thing is the story behind its creation. So my question is: Do you think that’s exciting or interesting enough to qualify as a POI?
Best regards

Hi,
You don’t have to be worried for submitting an ineligible wayspot. If the potential wayspot exists, you can always try. If you would spam bad wayspots, yes you will get a warning. But I’m sure all of us at this forum have had the experience that our nominations were rejected.
As a rule of thumb, if you use your own pictures (not published on the internet before), and you place the wayspot at its real life location, there is not much to worry about.
In this case, I would not even try it. It doesn’t look like a Point of Interest to me.
I would personally just give it a go
but I’m also new at this.
Look at the criterias, and give a short explanation as to how those criteria are met in this wayspot nomination and add some of the background information, end let the others decide in voting..
IMO: I don’t think these signs will be as Unique as you make it out.
The sign in itself does not meet any of the criteria. Would you really take someone from out of town to look at the sign?
This only leaves using the sign as an anchor for the building and as you admit it’s nothing that would meet criteria.
If you really believe it meets criteria you could try it but I strongly believe you would be wasting your time.
Unless you have nominated loads of Spam nominations previously I don’t see a risk to your account but I am not staff.
Good Luck
I would instantly reject such a POI as it clearly meets the rejection criteria of being ‘farmland’.
Thank you very much for your feedback!
I think I’d rather not submit the proposal after all. I hadn’t given the point about farmland any thought at all until now. In a predominantly industrial country like Germany, rejections on the grounds of farmland are extremely rare (at least in my region).
As far as I was concerned, it was a location that could be safely reached by this route.
Although I’ve always made sure to check the criteria beforehand, I’ve received almost nothing but rejections – a great many of them automated straight away.
Before my account is taken down completely, I’d rather be a bit more cautious about submitting applications.
For me, this was actually an interesting place (as I said, I’ve never seen funding schemes of this kind anywhere else before).
But I’m probably just looking at it from the wrong angle, because the suggestion came from me. If someone else were to submit it, I’d probably be the first to complain about how anyone could send something like that in.
Thanks again for your tips and information!
Best regards

I use the term farmland just for the land, not for everything on a farm. As my reasoning is that this rule is intended to protect the areas where crops are growing (hence farmland, and not farms). But I do understand why other people see it differently.
Sometimes farms have shops with fresh vegetables, or eggs etc, those are eligible in my view, as are campgrounds at farms.
In this case, I would not reject for farmland, just don’t think it is interesting enough.
I agree that there can be interesting places on a farm, such as a farm shop. However, the sign states that the building receiving funding is a feed store and a barn. As a farmer, you wouldn’t want strangers there.
