For Title Edits, is there any place to put some reasoning?

I submitted a title edit, but there does not appear to be anywhere to put a reason why the title should be changed. I fear that without knowledge of the local area, the reviewers may not understand the rationale for the change.

The existing title is not wrong per se, but rather generic and could be applicable to any of dozens of waypoints in the environs. The suggested edit is more specific to the waypoint.

Thanks for any wisdom on this, and apologies if it is already overdiscussed.

Hello and welcome,

Unfortunately, at this time, there is not an option to leave supporting info for title/description/location/photo edits; supporting info can only be left for new nominations.

Keep in mind that most reviews are done by those in your local area, about a 50km radius. If you upgrade a nomination or edit, it will open it up to a larger review area, and those reviewers may not know how certain places should be named, described, etc.

If the title edit is rejected, you do have the option to appeal it with more context, but keep in mind that you only get 2 appeals every 15 days. So, you may want to resubmit until it gets approved instead of appealing, so you can save those for rejected nominations, but it’s your choice.

Most title edits should be pretty obvious which title is better when being compared. Keep in mind “updating” business or church etc to a new one in the same location is not allowed as it is considered “repurposing”.
