Formal Appeal – Unexplained Removal of an Accepted Wayspot – Vilcún, Chile

Wayspot Title: MURAL ARTÍSTICO AVES Y NATURALEZA

Location (Lat/Lon): -38.668590, -72.228679

City: Vilcún

Country: Chile

Screenshot of the Rejection Email:

Not applicable. This Wayspot was originally accepted and upgraded on October 14, 2026. I did not receive any rejection or removal notification explaining why it was subsequently deleted.

Additional Information:

I am formally appealing the complete removal of this Wayspot from both Pokémon GO and the Scopely Wayfarer map.

The nominated location corresponds to a real, permanent artistic mural depicting birds, branches, leaves, and elements of nature. This is a genuine physical object that exists at the submitted location and can be independently verified through Google Maps or an on-site inspection.

The original nomination was accepted and marked as upgraded. However, it was subsequently completely removed from the Wayfarer database, with no explanation provided.

I consider this removal highly concerning, especially because the physical object still exists and the original nomination included photographs clearly documenting its existence and characteristics.

I respectfully request:

  1. A thorough manual review of this removal.
  2. A clear explanation of the specific reason and policy used to justify the deletion.
  3. Verification of the actual physical existence and location of the mural.
  4. Restoration of the Wayspot if the removal was made in error.

I would appreciate a specific and substantive response rather than a generic reference to Wayfarer policies.

The purpose of this appeal is to ensure that legitimate and verifiable Wayspo

ts are not improperly removed from the platform.

Thank you for your attention and for reviewing this case.

Wow, that’s quite the ‘legally-worded’ demand. I suspect (and hope) this is AI-suggested text, because there’s really no need for this tone! A waypoint was reported, and for whatever reason, staff agreed. Now you can ask staff to double-check the process to see if anything was missed, and possibly get it reinstated. There’s no need for drama.

My first thought was that the wall might be the boundary of a single family house, but it seems to be an industrial / maintenance yard of some kind, so that’s unlikely. The images are too new for StreetView, but do not appear to have been manipulated (multiple different angles, images all remain identical), so I have no explanation. Hopefully staff can have a look and give you an answer soon.

Good morning,

First of all, regarding your comment about the use of AI, yes, I use AI responsibly as a support tool to improve texts that I have personally written, particularly to improve my wording and translate my messages into English, since I do not speak English. I fail to understand why this should be an issue. Using a translation and writing assistance tool should not invalidate the concerns I am raising or the legitimacy of my appeal.

That being said, I would like to sincerely thank you for your willingness to look into the removal of the PokéStop in question.

However, I would like to emphasize that my concern goes beyond this individual Wayspot. Several PokéStops have disappeared from my locality, and I find it deeply concerning that legitimate locations can be removed following reports from other players without sufficient verification.

I am specifically referring to the mural I personally nominated through the official system. It is a genuine, permanent, and publicly accessible location. Its removal is particularly frustrating considering that I live in a relatively remote community, where every legitimate PokéStop contributes significantly to the local players’ experience.

Furthermore, another PokéStop located at a mural belonging to the public institution where I work has also disappeared. This raises serious concerns about a possible pattern of targeted reporting or abuse of the reporting system.

I understand that you may not be able to disclose the identity of the person submitting reports due to privacy policies. Nevertheless, I respectfully request that staff investigate whether a particular player is systematically reporting and causing the removal of legitimate Wayspots in my community.

If deliberate abuse or malicious reporting is identified, I believe appropriate action should be taken in accordance with Scopely’s policies to prevent further damage to the local player community.

This is not simply about restoring one PokéStop. It is about protecting the integrity of the Wayfarer system and ensuring that legitimate contributions are not unfairly removed, especially in smaller and remote communities where these locations are particularly valuable.

Thank you again for your attention, your willingness to investigate, and your time. I sincerely hope that staff will review the circumstances surrounding these removals and provide a fair and transparent resolution.

The trouble with a wall of AI-generated text is that it is hard to find the actual issue that you are writing about.

If this mural exists, you may be able to get the wayspot restored by providing evidence. Since the location is eligible and there are no access problems, it is best to assume that someone reported it as not existing and provided evidence for that.

Therefore, to get it reinstated, you need to overcome that evidence and provide your own. Photos and/or a video (post anywhere, provide the link here) that contain something categorically from today. For example, write today’s date on a piece of paper and a reference to this thread, then include that in the video.

If you provide concrete evidence that the mural does exist, and the removal was reported using fake evidence, Scopely Explore may choose to take action against the abusive report.

Welcome to the forum!

You can just write in your own language. There is a button to translate. The tone of the AI is very hostile. Just give staff evidence the mural exists for them to consider. And that the location is safe. They may have had a report it isn’t there or isn’t safe.

If the property owner has asked for the Wayspot to be removed, then staff will not be able to restore this.

The forum has an auto-translate function for any post which is written in a language that is not the reader’s system language. This way, everyone everywhere can read every post, and the poster can write in their own language.

As Cyndie said, there’s no need, please feel free to write in your own language. AI has a nasty of habit of over-formalising things and in this case it is repeatedly making you sound quite aggressive / hostile, when I’m sure that isn’t your intent. It’s also way more verbose than is necessary. This place is a relatively informal format.

We would need to deal with them on a case-by-case basis. It often feels like an attack when this happens, but more often than not, it turns out to have been reported by someone with good intentions. Exceptions do of course happen, though that usually revolves around people trying to remove gyms to make new gyms appear is places they would prefer. I don’t think that is the case here?

The report (if it was a report) and the staff reviewer may have been well-intentioned but mistaken, or there may be some other factor at play that we cannot tell from StreetView. Hopefully staff respond and provide some additional data.

Buenas tardes.

You did not wait long enough for your photos to upload before hitting reply. Try again but wait until they stop saying “uploading”.

You cannot upload videos here, but can upload them to any site you want and then provide a link here.

Evidence is already required to get wayspots removed. Scopely Explore won’t do it just because someone asks. However, evidence can be faked.

Or just be accidentally incorrect and misleading. Doesn’t take too much to make such an error and for staff to do the same.

Buenas tardes,

I don’t think there was much question that the mural exists – multiple photos from different angles + clear things matching was good enough for me, at least.

At this point we don’t know who requested it was removed or for what reason, nor why staff agreed with the request. It might be the owner of the yard that made a perfectly legitimate request for it to be removed, or it might just be a simple error. They do happen.

If such measures are taken, they will likely remain private between the wayfarer and staff.

I do hope staff get to this request soon so you get a solid answer.

Me despido.
