I have not submitted very many pokestop recommedations because they always seem to get automatically rejected. I’m worried about getting suspended for bad submissions. Playing this game should not cause such angst!
I have reviewed pokestop requests and think I know what I’m doing. And yet my submissions are rejected.
Anyone else afraid to submit now?
You don’t have to be afraid, first suspensions are no longer both for the game and wayfarer, but more important there is not much to be afraid of.
Warnings/bans for wayfarer are usually only the result of either:
- 3rd party pictures (pictures from the internet)
- fake nominations (fake location, fake pictures)
- incorrect location
If you use your own pictures, check if the location is accurate, you won’t risk anything.
Welcome to the forum!
Social media stirs up the pot to make people afraid of Wayfarer. Here’s my stats:

Rejections are just part of the process.
A lot of those people who claim Wayfarer gives unjust bans are submitting completely fake nominations, or have pinned abusively where they would be eligible to be used in Pokemon Go instead of at the actual location which would not be. You have nothing to worry about if you are submitting in good faith.
And on the rare occasion when someone is flagged incorrectly, staff here are quick to respond and reconsider.
And here is a great link you can bookmark, just to be sure you are following guidelines:
Thank you for your reply!! I feel better now. Maybe I’ll get one through someday! Lol
Thank you so much for your reply! It really helped. I’ll keep trying!
Feel free to post screenshots of a submission you don’t understand being rejected. We may be able to advise on a resubmit/appeal or explain why you should abandon it. A lot of Wayfarer is “gray” area, but the eligibility criteria are always a great place to exercise, explore, or be social. Focusing in on how your nomination meets at least one of those three can help. Some points of interest are easier than others!
“easy” nominations are playgrounds (not on school grounds), sportfields, churches, picknick areas. Restaurants are more difficult, but often approved.
Please be aware that in the 1st 24 hours there is an AI check, it may reject the nomination, but if you appeal it, it will go to a human reviewer (many of my wayspots were rejected first, but approved on appeal)
I have alot of stuff automatically rejected too! Even when lots of experienced wayfarers say it seems fine.
Feel free to share like Cyndie said, maybe we can help, or work out alternatives
This may help if most of your submissions are being rejected, as it means you are either making mistakes or failing to submit eligible things.
In order to be accepted, a wayspot has to not fail any of the rejection criteria
- it has to be safely accessible to pedestrians
- it can’t be on school grounds, single-family private residential property, farmland
- it has to exist at the location given
- it has to have a reasonably accurate title and description
- the photo cannot contain licence plates, identifiable people, unnecessary animals
- it cannot represent something that already has a wayspot
- the photo must be one that you took and have not posted elsewhere
- it has to be reasonably distinct, not just a random location
It also has to meet one of the key criteria
- Exploration
- Exercise
- Social
Something can meet the key criteria but be rejected because it fails one of the rejection tests.
Something can pass all the rejection reasons but still not be eligible because it simply isn’t meeting criteria. Please have a look at these for understanding what makes a good wayspot.

Each wayspot is checked by an automated system to filter out a lot of ineligible submissions, then either reviewed by the community or by Niantic.
