Graveyard enteances that are listed

I dont submit graveyards, ill do famous graves and monument/memorials, but I was scouring the historic scotland map and came across a graveyard that lists one of the entrances

So im.just curious is this is worth submitting or not, grade b for those outside Scotland is national importance level

Personally, I wouldn’t waste my time.

Given that it’s a national pastime to walk dogs in cemeteries here it would never be an issue, but in another country you’d have locals up in arms, so I get that there has to be a blanket rule, but I do think there’s a bit of a discrepancy here. ‘Cemeteries are too sensitive’ and ‘Graves of historic people are okay’ really struggle to coexist, at least in my head.

Same.

It’s always going to be a grey area.

IMO: Active graveyards should be a No whoever i buried there.
Historic graveyards that should be OK.

The middle ground is where the cemetery expects “Tourists”, the 1st I thought of is St Johns Church, Upperthong which is the resting place of both Bill Owen and Peter Sallis from “Last of The Summer Wine”. I have visited but I would not have entered the grounds if a funeral was happening but not everyone would be the same.

In regards to the OPs Entrance, personally I would Accept. There would be no need to enter the graveyard and it is a listed structure so worthy of explore.

I agree. This should be the distinction.

No-one is going to be personally upset by kids playing a video game outside a graveyard that was closed for new burials in the 19th century.

Yes, this. I have a cemetery near me where most burials took place in the 1800s, and the gravestones are all in German, despite being in Illinois, because this area was originally settled by a Lutheran population.

The only reason I haven’t nominated it is because of the poor pedestrian access–I only got to visit it myself when a road was closed for construction and I could safely cross it to get to that patch. Otherwise, I’d have made a point of trying, because the historical value is amazing.

I submit everything and let the community decide, if it’s far from where I live or nowhere near my community has been talking about more stops needed, then I just don’t resubmit or appeal. If it’s a place I’m invested in and I know the POI is legit I will literally keep submitting it until it passes, usually 2nd or 3rd try things pass, one took me like 10 submissions and 2 appeals but it got passed after 7 years of trying.

Not the greatest advice, staff have stated that constantly re-submitting poor nominations can lead to warnings / suspensions.

The most I have done is 3 attempts and this was only due to it being a POI that is normally rejected around the world but for “reasons” are accepted in the UK.

Otherwise 1 re-submit and / or 1 appeal would be my max. I am not a big numbers person so I only nominate what I am confident meets criteria.

Never gotten a warning and have over 100 approved, also like how you conveniently ignore the part where I specify the criteria I use to resubmit stuff and just responded to the small part of that post you dislike

I responded to the part that you where advising to “submit everything and let the community decide” which is why I quoted that part.

Even if I don’t agree that legit POIs would take 10 attempts it is your choice if you do this, I just wanted to point out it is not great advice to give where someone new to wayfarer could come for information.

Decided to submit it … emily said no lmao

Could you post your nomination. Unless the nomination makes it obvious it is a cemetery I am surprised…

Did you put ‘cemetery’ in the title?

I’d have been tempted to call it “1839 Grade-B-listed Gatepiers”.

No lies, but might sneak it past ML?

I’ve had routes that passed a cemetery auto rejected before, so despite my suggestion, it might be a geographic thing?

Just checked, didnt put it in the title but stupidly put it in the description
