Help chat getting cheeky :D

I used the help chat to request a POI move (business had relocated about 37 metres to an adjacent building). Bit of a wait (8 working days), but that’s okay, we are all busy people.

Got the “we’ve done it” message today, which is great, but it also had the following message added on, which I interpreted as “We would really prefer it if you did this through community review in future”:

Players who’ve reached level 35 and above can suggest improvements to an in-game location’s title, description, real-world location, or photos directly from the Pokémon GO app. Please suggest edits through PokéStop contributions.

To Suggest a Title, Description, Photo, or Location Improvement:

  1. Tap a PokéStop or Gym from the Map View.
  2. Tap the arrow in the top right corner of the Photo Disc screen.
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right of the PokéStop/Gym details screen.
  4. Select from the available options.
  5. Complete the next screen by entering the correct title or description, photo, or, when editing location, tap and drag the map until the marker is in the correct location.

In case you are not able to submit edits, please reach out to your local community, and they should be able to help you.

Thanks,

My understanding was that location edits over 10m should be done through the help chat as the method suggested above has a much stricter distance limitation. Could this be confirmed / corrected?

Ticket number was: # 256873 if that’s any use to staff.

Location edits through Pokemon Go are strictly limited to 10m. It is impossible to have community review for anything more than 10m.

A 37m location edit can only be done through Scopely Explore help chat (etc). It would be nice if this instance was used internally to reinforce this message to the people used to review help chats (etc).

Yes. Location edits are limited to 10 meters in game and so a 35 meter edit has to be done through chat. Doing it by 4 consecutive community edits would look like abuse.

Many of us do still use chat for smaller edits since they respond so quick. Especially in areas where community edits don’t get resolved. For example I’m still waiting on a community location edit from April and a description edit from June.

That was my understanding, which is why I’m so bemused by this particular reply.

Another one (for 28m) that was responded to positively around the same time got no such message. :man_shrugging:

Also: if you try and incrementally correct a wayspot, it will get rejected (and be liable for an abuse flag), as your first edit will be at an incorrect location.

The staff member who wrote this was wrong and needs to be corrected.

Edit: I have just reread the post and Scopely Explore didn’t explicitly say “do it in game”, but implied it.

Maybe they were just over-enthusiastic at tacking on a pre-prepared text, which should get tacked on if someone sends a sub-10m edit to help chat, but shouldn’t have been tacked on here.

I mean they kind of did, didn’t they?

Yes, but more by virtue of pressing the button that drops that predefined text into the response, rather than explicitly writing that. It’s a subtle distinction

While we are on the topic, is chat the correct feature to use for asking for the relocation of a Wayspot that does not show up in Pokémon GO? I don’t play any of the other games and so I was wondering if there’s a different way since technically they’re not all over 10 m.

Yes it is
