Id say it doesnt meet criteria, if it was a picnic area that would be dofferent. But i genuily despise when the appeals staff just nake up their own criteria, thry cojld have rejected it saying doesnt meet any criteria, but instead they make up “its not unique”, not being unique is not a refection criteria
You said this is a shopping center? I do view these as eligible. In the US, at least, many people use shopping centers that look like these for their recreation - same as going to a park or woods. Some folks just prefer the safety and comfort of being around others and the chance to get food and drink if necessary. If the shopping center itself is a cultural center for people to gather at, I would think a prominent seating area obviously intended to socialize would meet eligibility.
I think they’re trying, but a lot of it comes off as insincere, out of touch, and like they just copied a few words of the nomination text and added “common/generic/normal…which is not unique/with no significance.”
I understand the slippery slope (fallacy) but I do feel staff should be more lenient on appeals that may appear to be fringe or boarder line case.
Yes this is a shopping centre but one that basically only has clothing and food shops so these seats are pretty useful as you can finish shopping than get something to eat and sit in these.
Sounds similar to our outlets or outdoor shopping centers. Definitely common for people to just meet there even if not planning to shop to enjoy the walking atmosphere and maybe “window shop.”
I honestly wish you could appeal a rejected appeal as i will more than likely not be nominating this again as its too far away from me.
Or you could renominate the rejected appeal on the wayfare page instead of having to do it through the game
I would have approved this, it meets one of the core criteria and since you said it is one of a kind in this particular shopping cente I would say it is unique.
I hope the tean takes another look at this one.
