Is this appeal rejection correct? If so, why?

I just got an Appeal rejected, and i actually don’t understand why.

These are hiking trails that are naturally permanent. The trail marker is no longer completely fresh, but it is still clearly visible and therefore fulfills its purpose as an anchor point for a POI, as it still allows for orientation along the path. Markers like these are permanent because the paint is very durable and can be renewed and refreshed if needed. I think this Wayspot should be accepted and I would like to appeal the decision. The markers are made of robust materials and last for many years; damaged markers are reliably replaced by our hiking associations. They are clearly recognizable objects that are well-suited to serve as anchor points for POIs on hiking trails. They are significant because they enable orientation along the paths. From my knowledge, the info that a trailmerker needs to have specific information about the trail should be outdated, as the trailmerker is unique to the trail and therefore delivers information about the trail. I had several markings like this approved, a lot through an appeal too, so i wonder if this appeal rejection is right or if the accepted appeals and community decisions were wrong?

We have several trails around my town marked like this (the H stands for “Herborn” oder "Herborner Wanderweg / Herborn Hiktetrail) and it woulkd really baffled me if this decision would be correct.

I could understand the condition of the marker beeing a reason somehow, but even then, I think it would not be correct to reject because of this, as the trail marker is still easily recognizeable and fulfills its function to mark the trail and allow orientation when following it.

So I wonder: is this correct? Did anything change? I took quite a long break from wayfarer, because my phone camera broke and I couldnt afford a new one, so i really don’T know if theres any updated info about trailmarkers i’m not aware of.

I plan to submit some hike trails in the near future (like… after the heatwave) and it would be really useful to know if trailmarkers like this are still OK or not.

The description was:

“Hier führen Wanderwege unter der Autobahn hindurch. Die Wanderwge H2 und Ha5 sind lokale Wanderwege der Stadt Herborn, die sich prima für einen Nachmittagsausflug anbieten.”

translation:

Here, hiking trails lead underneath the Autobahn. The H2 and H5 trails are local hiking trails in the town of Herborn, which are great for an afternoon trip.

Maybe the word “Autobahn” could make someone reviewing this believe its unsafe, but that’s not the case and not the reason for rejection, neither by the community nor the appeals team.

I also noticed 2 minor spelling errors in the decription, wich i am totally willing to correct if that decision would be overturned by any chance ^^ I could also just resubmit, of course. just wanted to make sure it would be OK to do so.

Just an outsider viewpoint (Uk Based).

To me they don’t look like trail markers (I wouldn’t know that H2 and H5 are trails, hopefully local reviewers would).

To me this just looks like a bridge identifier so an engineer could radio in and state “we have a problem with the H2H5 bridge”.

Did you supplemental include official evidence of what they are?

I understand that first notion.

I attached a Map Link in the supporting info, where you can confirm the trail sign and the path the trail follows as well.

I could understand the original rejection from either AI or Reviewers that see photo and vote not knowing what they are.

More surprised that the Appeal failed.

Hopefully the “trail professionals” (you know who you are :slight_smile: ) will make suggestions to improve.

A re-submit should not cause any problems, it’s definitely not a spam nominations, sounds more like a mis-understood nomination.

Some will suggest multiple re-submits but IMO if I got a 2nd Reject and Appeal I would just think “they don’t want it” move on, try something else :frowning:
