There are 2 parks in my neighborhood that have been in the game under the same name, but last year the city used prop 68 funds and added a basketball court and hung a banner with the official park name of Spruce park ( located on Spruce street with the side street of Mcdevitt). The park is in the game as Mcdevitt park - which is another tiny park down at the end of Mcdevitt street, also in the game as McDevitt park. Neither park used to have signage, so until the city put the basketball court in, everyone thought both were Mcdevitt park as there is a hiking trail that connects the two areas, as they are just a few vlocks apart. I have added a nomination for the new basketball court and for the hiking trail at Spruce park but the other 2 poke stops and Max gym at Spruce park wrongly say McDevitt park. Is there a way to correct them to show Spruce park or just ignore it? Is it going to make my 2 nominations get rejected - I put the picture of the banner showing Spruce park in my nomination. Is it irrelevent or important? McDevitt park still has no signage as it is just a tiny playground and green space.
Welcome to the forum.
I would try to use this form to change the existing incorrect names, which can be used for removals or “modifications”
You can give them the evidence of the name change for all the Wayspots in one go.
The options I can choose from on this form never matches exactly what I want to do, but we have been told to just pick something to get to the text box, then explain the issue there.
If you fill in that you are not the property manager but the acknowledgement email asks for your credentials as owner, just ignore it. A human will reply.
If your nominations do get denied for the names, you can appeal them. A lot will depend on what the situation currently looks like on Google Maps.
Thanks!
If you use the form, since scopely staff that review your case may not be local, make sure to put in as many evidence that you have . since street view may not be up to date, i suggest to take latest video, upload it somewhere like youtube and send the link in the form
On further review, the park is under the wrong name on Google maps, so I submitted an edit there with the info from the city, but I doubt it will get addressed so I guess it isnt fixable at this point. The 2 parks have changed names over the decades before they were developed, so I understand why it was put in that way years ago. It was never updated as the city developed the sites and officially named them.
I did get both wayspots accepted for Spruce park, but they are not appearing in game and I dont really understand why. I think we should qualify for a Gym to be added at Spruce park. I triwd understanding the S2 criteria, but I don’t see why both were accepted but not added to the game. Google Maps

The following link explains why the “wayspots” that you got accepted will not be used in Pokemon Go…
Your nominations where accepted in to the map data, Pokemon Go (and other games) have their own Proximity Rules that determin what will appear in game.
The following screen grab shows the cell that the “wayspots” appear in and only 1 in each cell will be used in PoGo as Stop / Gym.
Blue Circle - “Slide!” is the Wayspot for this cell.
Pink Circle - “Climb the Tree” is being used as a Powerspot (these are on rotation so will not be in game all the time).
White Circle - “Spruce Park Basketball half-court” not used in game.
The “unused” wayspot may…
- be used as a Powerspot at a later date.
- replace the current wayspot if that is removed for legitimate reasons.
- used in other Scopely games.
- Used for a future feature that we don’t know about yet.
Thank you for your response. The same cell has 2 pokestops (the big slide and the McDevitt park gazebo) and the climb a tree max gym, the neighboring cell has 1 pokestop at the Wheatland community garden and a gym at Mcdevitt Park Tot playground. I added the basketball court in the 1st cell and the hiking trail which is on the border of the 2 cells. I see multiple pokestops next to each other in other parts of town and at Nichols park across town, so it doesn’t seem to follow that we can only have one? Is it because the rules changed over the years? Just trying to understand so I can submit future ones correctly. Thank
you for your help!
Scopely doesnt acknowledge s2 cells. Its community observation. So there could be rule that we dont know. But in general , AFAIK, only 1 wayspot per cell can appear as pokestop/gym. Sponsored wayspot or campsite doesnt follow this rule though. In addition You can read more in the link shared.
Thank you. I appreciate the help! Have a blessed night.
Because the Proximity Rules are cell based and not distance based you could have wayspots extremely close as long as they are over the cell lines. You could get 4 if they are in the corners.
There are exceptions…
- Previously some players found a loophole where moving an already Accepted wayspot in to an occupied cell did not remove it from the game, this has now been fixed and previous cells are “re-balanced” when found by staff.
- I have encountered moved wayspots still remaining in game for longer than expected but they will be removed eventually.
- As stated above, Sponsored / Campsite wayspots do not follow the standard Wayfarer rules.
