I like to point new folks to this topic:
Itās hard to give advice without knowing your general environment - thereās things I could say that just donāt make sense if you live in certain parts of the world, for example, but are super useful in others.
For example: nearly thirty percent of my approved wayspots (31 out of 106) are swimming pools in hotel, apartment, condo, or mobile home park communities. Theyāre everywhere, and (with good pictures and allowable locations) almost a sure thing nomination (unless the reviewers misapply the āprivate propertyā thing, which I have had happen three times, all three were overturned on appeal and are currently live in game).
But in other parts of the world (Iām in Southern California) those might be rare or non-existent.
Meanwhile, Iāve been adding national cycle network signage and stone carvings on old buildings. 
It really does just depend where you are.
