I’m really confused how nominations work. Thus far I’ve nominated 35 locations however 0 have been granted. I’m at the Hilton hotel and across the street at the Marriott are 2 spinners. I nominate one for the Hilton and of course DENIED. I’m on a picturesque trail. I nominate sites and of course DENIED. Trails DENIED, walking locations near the bay DENIED. Department of Veterans Affairs DENIED. I’m confused at why everything I nominate is 100% denied
We can’t help you unless you show screenshots of the nominations including the title, description, location, and photos. All of those factors into it. Can you share?
If you share complete detail on your nomination (title, description, original foto, surrounding foto, information, location), we will be able to advise if its possible to improve your nomination..
In the other hand, if you disagree with your nomination review result, you can appeal. Scopely staff will review appeal. You have 2 appeals, each with 15days cooldown
I guess I’ll remember to keep all photos and information for my next denial. Funny thing is I don’t nominate lightly. I think this is a good location to help others playing Pokemon go. Are those folks approving nominations doing their “due diligence”?. By the denials I would say no.
Welcome to the forum.
If everything you submit is being denied, there must be a reason. Since you are comparing what you submit to what you see in game, I have to ask if you have read the criteria? Here is a nice link: Wayspot Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center
Here is a great topic about some of the more common mistakes: Top Mistakes Made When Nominating, and How to Avoid Them
If you would like to discuss nominations you don’t understand being rejected, it is easiest to go over them one at a time.
You can share screenshots from your contributions page at Scopely Explore Wayfarer
That is where you will find the rejection reasons as well.
Being a good location for playing Pokemon Go has nothing to do with submitting a Wayspot. A Wayspot must be a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social.
We definitely want to help. Wayfarer is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Getting rejections is not fun, but it is a part of the process. I personally do not think there is enough education for new reviewers, and love when people come here to learn. It is so satisfying to see a location in game that you have created.
It sounds from this like you are submitting based on what other people have managed to get accepted, and if so, this approach is going to cause you a lot of pain.
The review process is not perfect. Sometimes perfectly valid things are rejected, and other times things that really don’t meet any of the criteria somehow manage to sneak through. The latter then sit on the Pokemon Go, pikmin etc. gameboards and seem to say “If you see more of these, submit them and they will be accepted!” when that is not at all the case.
Instead of taking your cues from these things, stick to the criteria:
Social: Is it a notable place to sit and chat with friends? Could you meet up there?
Exercise: Does it promote exercise? Does it encourage or enable walking, or offer classes on how to lift the heavy thing or throw the ball?
Exploration: Is it genuinely worth seeing in its own right? Is it beautiful, informative, shocking, historic or otherwise uniquely interesting? Would you point at it and talk about it when you pass by with your pal from out-of-town?
Now, with those three paragraphs in mind, tell me how the Hilton hotel meets any of those criteria. I’m not specifically saying that it does not, but if your submission didn’t explain it, then there’s no reason for reviewers to accept.
I submitted a gym attached to a hotel yesterday. It offers swimming classes, aqua aerobics, and drop-in sessions for members and also hotel users. Even so, I’m expecting it to be rejected by reviewers and that I’ll need to use an appeal to have a chance of it going through.
Expanding on POIs that could be in a Hilton hotel:
- Gym
- Pool
- Award-winning / highly-rated restaurant
- Unique artwork, especially in the foyer
- Coffee shop with relaxing grouped seating near the foyer
Any nominations inside a building need good supporting evidence they’re at that location you’ve pinned so good supporting photos or a hotel map can help here.
Absolutely, but worth emphasising the ‘unique’ here. Not something that the Hilton brand has had mass-produced and placed in multiple hotels.

In order to be accepted, a wayspot has to not fail any of the rejection criteria
- it has to be safely accessible to pedestrians
- it can’t be on school grounds, single-family private residential property, farmland
- it has to exist at the location given
- it has to have a reasonably accurate title and description
- the photo cannot contain licence plates, identifiable people, unnecessary animals
- it cannot represent something that already has a wayspot
- the photo must be one that you took and have not posted elsewhere
- it has to be reasonably distinct, not just a random location
It also has to meet one of the key criteria
- Exploration
- Exercise
- Social
Something can meet the key criteria but be rejected because it fails one of the rejection tests.
Something can pass all the rejection reasons but still not be eligible because it simply isn’t meeting criteria. Please have a look at these for understanding what makes a good wayspot.
