This library is an excellent location to play. However, the photo disc images are dark and could be improved. I tried submitting a daytime photo, but it was sunny and there might be too much contrast. My submission was rejected and I received an email stating, “Unfortunately, our team has decided not to accept your Wayspot Photo submission” and no other explanation.
Is this worth appealing or do I try again with a better photo?

I hate to use an appeal on a photo. If you can, I would recommend you try a new photo. This is a great guideline for how to take a photo that looks good in game:
Don’t use this snip from Street View, but if you center the symbol and crop it to square, the photos usually look great in all uses like that. Make sure the words can be read.
Thank you for the tip. I usually take vertical photos, but always center the subject as best I can. I try to consider how the image will appear in the photo disc and for gifts. I wish I knew what the mistake was. This is the first time I’ve had one rejected!
I can’t see a mistake that you made. We just think it’s not worth using an appeal on a photo unless you don’t live close to it. I think your photo improves it.
I didn’t mean that you had made a mistake with your original photo. I was just making suggestions for the retry. I meant that unless there was some other issue like non-standard file size or something like that which I am unable to see, I don’t understand this being rejected. Or possibly a bad upload 
I have a follow up question. I hope that’s okay within this thread.
I resubmitted a new photo and It was approved almost instantly! But then I realized that the rejection of my previous photo was reversed, and I was not notified. So now both of my photos are visible.
Is there an appropriate way of asking other players to like the new photo? I’m asking here because I want to avoid violating terms.

That is good news about them overturning the rejection, and I don’t know if the forum has any rules about asking for photo likes to improve the Wayspot picture. I like both your new photos, but I think the newer one is the easier one to read with the lighting.
You could simply ask people to like whichever photo they prefer. This can be done from the wayfarer map, as well as postcards and when physically present.
