I do want to make sure you are aware that whenever staff look at an edit request they have several options. They can reject it, accept it, move it to a different location that they deem more correct, or decide that the wayspot does not meet criteria and remove it. Sometimes people are upset when something unexpected happens. Since they did not remove the wayspot from your previous report, I don’t believe you have to worry about that, but different individuals may have different opinions.
Thank you for letting me know
Just a quick note for future reference.
Entrance signs for places like hotels are rarely eligible. The hotel is place you may be social and in the health club exercise.
The sign is just saying what’s there so doesn’t really meet criteria in its own right. It was basically lucky to get approved, but unlikely to get removed.
Thanks - I see ineligible places as stops all the time though, we have 2 stops here which are basic maps of a trading estate, no idea how those got approved! I live in a village so it’s hard to find places/things to nominate as it is, and annoyingly many places that do get approved get added to other Niantic games instead. I know they warn you about that, I just don’t think it’s fair. I don’t spend my time and energy nominating a stop for a game I don’t play. It makes it harder for rural players to play when the stop gets added for the purpose of another game.
So I nominate basically anything I can and just hope for the best!
On another note, the stop has vanished completely - it appears from the map to have been merged with the hotel itself and the hotel has now become a gym! I’m quite happy with that as it’s better than a stop.
Those ones might not be used in any games. It isn’t a case that another game is taking it, it is just that Pokemon Go chose not to include this Wayspot as a Pokestop.
When Pokemon Go was designed, they picked a certain density of Pokestops and Gyms that they wanted to be in the game. This may have taken into consideration various factors such as encouraging exploration, game balance, etc.
So when they don’t appear, it is because it is working as intended based on what the Pokemon Go developers want.
I’ve heard that but I’m not convinced. I’ve been to places where there are 5 stops basically sat on top of each other and hundreds of others nearby. Then you go to some other places and there are barely any. It’s not a fair balance.
Glad to hear a good outcome.
It’s great that you are keen to find things to nominate.
I would recommend reading this article
It’s a bit technical but is really key to understanding what will happen and helps focus your efforts.
If you have ti e have a look at some posts in Nomination Support and you will find examples of how it works. You are welcome to post there and ask questions about your area.
Pokemon Go’s proximity rules are not distanced based, they use cells as described in the link above posted by @elijustrying .
You could get 4 extremely close as long as they fall in to different cells.
You can then get others that confuse matters…
- Sponsored Wayspots.
- Moved wayspots where the cell has not yet been re-calculated.
- Community Campsites.
Thanks for the appeal, @pokemumoffive83! We have taken another look and we’ve decided to move the Wayspot to the correct location.
Thank you!
