Rejected removals

Appealing multiple rejected reports occurring in Copperas Cove, TX, USA:

Heart O'texas Federal Credit Union
31.119357, -97.877546
This credit union closed between June 2018 and October 2019. Cones were put out in 2024 to prevent traffic from cutting through the property and in 2025 large stones replaced the stones. All this is visible in street view or satellite imagery.

First Assembly of God
31.098844, -97.908857
There is another waypoint (located 31.098583, -97.908976) that is of the exact same church, exact same name.

Five hills rv park
31.113007, -97.910334
Five Hills RV Park has an existing waypoint and is located at 31.110516, -97.912014

Valero
31.111449, -97.909641
Street view from October 2019 shows the Valero but if you move to April 2021 you can see the same station is now a Mobil. September 2026 street view confirms it is still a Mobil

Information Plaque

Personally walked the trail loop here. No informational signs exist. Short of recording a video I don't know how to definitively prove this as there is dense tree cover and no photo spheres. Here are some of the photos I took while I was out there along with the rejection email, not that I expect much on this one.

Interesting, I didn’t like the forced double spacing formatting so tried something different. Hopefully it’s all legible

I’ve spotted or imagined a general problem with getting imported wayspots removed - you have no idea what the wayspot POI is as you only have a name. This could be for the building, not the organization, and the building still exists!

This is interesting. We know that an imported wayspot does not prevent a community submission for the exact same feature. What I don’t know is whether an accepted submission means the import should now be removed. Here, the accepted submission was 10 years before the wayspot for the exact same feature.

This is so far away from the gym that it’s really hard to know what this is actually for, despite the name - same as the first problem.

Same as the first one - this may have represented the building which still exists. These imports follow different rules!

I am familiar with the area and have successfully had quite a few places removed, largely these imports. Except for the HoT Credit Union, each waypoint represents a place that already exists; the place they’re at has a waypoint and there’s either no location to move to or that place would be a duplicate

If I remember right they stripped the credit union of everything, so it won’t be an easy plug and play bank again. The city owns the property now

HoT Federal Credit Union exists with three other locations operating, one in Waco has a waypoint (31.496458, -97.196778) and Killeen does not have a waypoint visible near its property (31.0988877, -97.7512505). If the wayfarer team wants to do a location edit that’s on them. Oh the third…it’s at a facility that handles military aircraft maintenance…there are zero waypoints there

Thanks for the appeal, @SpindaHuntr! We gave this a second look and decided to retire the Wayspots in question.

Thanks ExpLC!
