Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, still new to the forum and adding waypoints. We recently made our first submissions. Weren’t concerned about placement as the waypoint was a 20ft mural on a shipping container w/ lots of valid locations. There was also an option to edit the location, that has since disappeared.

Happily it was approved, kids were excited but it never showed up in game next time in the area. Disappointing as was one of the brightest and most recognizable locations we came across. But then we discovered this S grid stuff, and the unseen part of the game we weren’t aware of when submitting. Now that we know it exists, our youngest loves this part, says it’s the world turned into board game spaces.

So am here to request if we could please edit our marker a few feet so hopefully will be playable and also improve the game quality in the area with the addition of another notable point to interact with.

Placement would still be valid/accurate, and is just a slightly different point along this 20ft container. Appreciated, and the new coordinates again are…

Have a great rest of your day. ( ᐛ )و

That edit is not allowed. The current location is correct and you are trying to move it to a location that is no more accurate, just for game purposes.

You can use the cells to decide where to pin a wayspot when submitting it, provided you have a legitimate choice of locations. Unfortunately, once it has been accepted, it can only be moved if the location is incorrect or a more accurate location exists,

Ah that’s disappointing if can’t be done, as we weren’t aware at the time of cells, or see a way to show them until found out after on a different site. From our end there was the option to edit it. So thought you could edit your own submissions.

Technically the argument could be made it is more accurate in the centre then the edge. We wouldn’t want someone looking from that end of the prism, it would just be an unpainted steel panel. Or if their gps is off as they all are, a few meters from the centre you’re still on point lol.

Less so for this game I know, but for geocaching a few meters either way is a big difference so:crossed_fingers:t3: can be accepted. :folded_hands:t2:

It’s always disappointing to find a wayspot could have been located somewhere equally valid and be more useful in Pokemon Go. Now that you are aware, you can use the knowledge of the cells to help you focus your hunt for things and to locate things (that are large enough, like this, to have options), but please don’t use that knowledge to squeeze things into places they don’t exist. This is location abusive and risks your wayfarer account.

(It’s fun hunting for things.)

Appreciate the time and information. Definitely not trying to break rules or loose my account. My key thought was if it’s a valid place even if just up a bit or in the corner of a cell would be okay here as it’s still a valid point and just makes the game better for everyone.

My self unfortunately w/ recent mobility issues appreciated being able to get out as intended and move, but also sometimes need places that were populated and playable still that you can enjoy wth the family if only have a moment. Was hoping could help contribute to making this one of those places for the area after finding a bright valid wayspot not tagged.

Would also be too bad if such a colourful focal point just doesn’t share with the community because of a few feet. :man_facepalming:t2:

If it helps, it should get used as a powerspot, so all isn’t lost. It should get used on Max Mondays and on rotation at other times.

If you submitted the building to the south, if it is still /something/, at the obvious front entrance (from the carpark), you would get another powerspot.

The other building, if this is a different facility, would make a third powerspot, if you put the wayspot at the obvious building entrance on the left.

Unfortunately, it has been stated many times by staff that if the location is deemed correct then you should not attempt a location edit.

For buildings I am a “at the front door” type and get agitated when I see one pinned in the middle of the building but it’s deemed correct so don’t touch it.

The tennis court itself could also become a wayspot (there appear to be three different sport courts):

I wish this would be allowed but I don’t blame Wayfarer. PoGo should have long relaxed this silly rigid 1-stop-per-cell rule.

Instead it should be something like at most 2 per cell, and at most 9 for every 3x3 cell, adjusted for cell size (cell size varies across the globe; biggest is more than double the size of smallest!!)

I didn’t think that was the case. The map is literally shrunk / stretched to fit onto the globe and the player’s ‘reach’ is similarly squashed or extended. Ultimately the cell boundaries are still the same length.

I may be wrong though. Spherical maps are wizardry.

That’s somewhat mind-boggling

But the players’ spinning ranges would be squashed at the same ratio, presumably, so it ultimately have no effect on the number anyone can reach… I think?

Interaction radius is 80m everywhere. It may appear smaller closer to the poles but that’s just how the map is rendered.

It definitely appears as a smaller circle on screen when I’ve been to the Canary Islands (tropics) than at home (Scotland)…

Guess I need to go on holiday to double check that though.

Personally not a fan of this idea. I have stated many times that I am not a “more stops = better game” player. This would also increase the stops / gyms in cities which are already highly populated.

I would agree more if the map was more fluid so as an idea (just of the top of my head)…

  • The first 20 wayspots in the L14 cell are used in game.
  • From wayspot 21 it removed a stop / gym from a “multi occupied L17 cell” to keep it at 20.
  • Once you have 20 wayspots in 20 different L17 cells it carries on as it is now.

This could also help Rural areas that have limited eligible POIs that are usually cluster in 1 area whilst not adding extra stops in more populated areas.
