Both locations of the missing Gyms still exist in real life and have not been removed or replaced. Unfortunately, this particular area is not covered by Google Street View, so I have attached photos/screenshots to document the locations.
These two Gyms were part of a group of 7 Gyms within a relatively small area, which made this location an important meeting point for the local Pokémon GO community, especially during Community Days and other local events on the right bank of Geneva.
Their disappearance significantly reduces the number of Gyms available in this local meeting area and will affect future community events and gatherings.
Could you please check why these two Wayspots are no longer Gyms in Pokémon GO and whether they can be restored?
This was moved in the past 16 months. Not very far and it stayed within the same cell, but the move might have triggered Pokemon Go to recalculate the gyms in this cell. It isn’t possible to see that this used to be a gym. The red marker is where this was in May 2025; the pink circle is where it is now
This is in the same cell and has not moved, but the same gym recalculation will have taken place.
These are both from 2013 and I cannot quite understand how you got two gyms in the same small cell. Regardless, you now have the correct number of gyms, even though you have lost one.
Thanks for the explanation! I did always find it a bit strange that these two Gyms were in the same cell, but both Wayspots are around 13 years old, and I know that having multiple Gyms in the same cell was possible in the past.
What surprises me the most is that we lost both Gyms because of this recalculation. If one of them had disappeared while the other remained a Gym, I could understand the update and the recalculation of the cell.
But losing both Gyms at once has a pretty significant impact on this area. These 7 Gyms have been an important gathering point for the local Pokémon GO community for years, especially during Community Days and other events.
I’ve also attached screenshots of the Gym badges for both locations, showing that they were indeed Gyms in Pokémon GO.
So I understand that the current number of Gyms may now be correct according to the current system, but I’m mainly wondering if there is any way to review why both historical Gyms were removed at the same time, especially since the Dojo itself has not moved.
I believe these were gyms, it’s just not possible to see on the wayfarfer map how things used to be in Pokemon Go. You can’t even see a wayspot has moved, because you can only see the current status, but there happens to be data floating around somewhere else that I used to determine this had moved (since May 2025, but I cannot be more precise).
Normally, surplus gyms were created in a small area by submitting a wayspot in the wrong location, waiting for it to appear in Pokemon Go and be converted to a gyn, then moving it to its actual location. Since Pokemon Go didn’t recalculate pokestop/gym status after location edits, people quickly realised this and the resulting abuse was inevitable (and avoidable).
Although these are Ingress submissions (2013, before Pokemon Go), it is likely the same process was used to move a gym from outside this area into this cell.
It is only when a wayspot is moved now (or since about 2 years ago), that Pokemon Go recalculates the pokestop/gym status. Since a gym wayspot was moved, Pokemon Go demoted the moved wayspot and the other one, leaving Fresque Bateaux as the active pokestop. I can’t explain why the newest wayspot became the active one!
Lynx courant (Robert Hainard, 1979) (46.212250,6.126041) and Le grand couple (Alexandre Meylan, 1980) (46.212363,6.123900) are the gyms now - it is likely that one of these only became a gym recently.
Summary: One gym moved because the wayspot was edited; one gym lost because it was surplus.

As I mentioned before, I would simply have hoped that at least one of the two old Gyms would remain, or that Fresque Bateaux would have become the Gym instead. For the rest, I understand that it’s now up to us to submit new Wayspots to eventually get a third Gym again, ideally close to this area which has been an important gathering point for the community for many years.
Regarding Lynx courant, I noticed the new Gym appeared and went to check the location myself. The sculpture is actually no longer there, so I have submitted a report about it.

While we are not able to fulfill your request to add back these locations at this time, we recognize the disappointment this may have caused and hope you continue to seek out adventures at other PokéStops and Gyms in your surrounding communities.
There is a 2018 photosphere next to that sculpture, so you might be able to work out where the sculpture actually was/is, as it doesn’t appear to be correctly located. I can’t match that photosphere to the streetview images.
This area currently needs 2 more pokestops to get a third gym; that will need a third one if Lynx courant is removed (or deactivated from being moved).
