I nominated a sports facility as a Wayspot, but it got rejected for lacking historical or cultural significance. Does anyone else think that’s weird?

That is the rejection reason that comes up when reviewers select “Generic business”. I would appeal the rejection if this is the only issue.
There are many reviewers out there who are not getting the latest guidelines for many different reasons.
The reason you mentioned comes up if people reject for being a Generic Business. Without the clarification in the collection in the forum, this would be also a correct decision.
