Wayspot rejected and flagged as "possible false" and not existing

  • Wayspot Title: Hedekæret info & rød vandrerute
  • Location (lat/lon): 55.654580, 12.195713
  • City: Hedehusene
  • Country: Denmark
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): mail just says rejected. On the page it claims that it was suspected of being a false spot, and not existing.
  • Additional Information (if any):

I have already made an appeal, but I need to be sure that I am “redeemed”.
I first made a nomination with the small red arrow with blue background, seen in the right side of the sign, as that marks an official trail. This trail has many other markers, and some of them are wayspot. I have nominated several and is touch and go whether or not they are accepted. I decided to try again, but with the whole sign since it’s informational to the area. It it had been rejected simply for not being unique, important, or anything special, I would have just shrugged my shoulders and moved on.
It was however suspected for falseness.

If you go to Google maps, and stand on Hedekæret you can see the sign. If you stand on Vesterkøb facing directly towards Hedekæret, you can see it much more clearly.

The rejection for the spot as a wayspot is fine to me and I will obviously accept, but it is definitely not false. I might not always get all my nominations approved, but I would never submit a false spot!

Hello

I shall move this to nomination support as this is not the sort of query that the appeals is designed for.

The main issue I can initially see is that the arrow is very simplistic and does not name the trail. So reviewers will have had doubts about the trail existing rather than this specific marker.

Could you please explain more about the trail, that the red arrow is for?

What is the name of the trail and is there a link to a website describing the trail and maybe its purpose. That will evidence that the trail is real.

Oh, so your thought is that someone doubted the existence of the trail itself? I guess it’s possible it just seems really odd. These are official trail markers used all over the country. There are 72 trails between 2 and 12 km all over the country, and they are all marked like this but with different colours and names. Plenty of the nearby spots are also part of this trail, clearly backing up it’s existence.
It seems strange to me, that someone would not know this?
You can read about the trail here: Kløversti: Fire fine gåture i dit lokale område or Hedehusene - Rød Kløversti • Hiking Trail » outdooractive.com

These images are some of the nearby spots. When I review, the nearby spots are visible.
There are obviously many more markers since this trail is 7,6 km, but these are the nearest ones.

Yes indeed, I am looking at it through the eyes of someone unfamiliar……which is likely to be the case for the appeals people.

The ones you have posted look much more official. I submit lots of trail markers of different sizes and styles but I always try to provide a link in the supplementary to evidence the routes existence. We have had sad instances in the UK of people faking trails so I want to make it easy for the reviewer to verify that my submission is a genuine trail.

Presumably there are easy websites you can link to where the trial and its route can be checked. That would be my advice.

But it wasn’t the appeals people who flagged it at “potentially false” that must have been some reviewer? I will accept that not all trail markers will be accepted, even though I obviously would like them to :joy:. That’s not why I appealed. I appealed because it was flagged for false and I just need to make sure that I’m not linked to something presumed to be false.
These trails are just marked like this - these specific markers are visible on Google as early as July 2017, so they’re not new at all. If somebody made them as fake wayspots, I’m sure they would have been nominated much sooner!
I have linked the same pages in my appeal, as i have done here, so I’ll just wait and see what happens.

Obviously it would be very costly and interrupting to dig up concrete, in order to place markers, especially in places where signs are already placed, so that’s just how they mark these trails. It’s easier.

There is hundreds and hundreds of them around the country.

Btw, one of the images I posted is simply a sticker on a lamp post. Half of these trail markers around town are literally stickers on lamp costs

Oh I understand the frustration of getting an email like that.

Hope it all works out

I think the “Hedekæret info” part isn’t eligible if it’s just info for where which house is on this street, while the trail marker is eligibile. For sticker-type trail markers, I have added a screenshot from the hiking organization in the past, where they confirm their use. Do you have anything like that you could attach?

Thank you, that’s a good idea. I’ve currently just stopped nominating these specific markers, due to the hassle and are focusing on other types that is more easily approved.
But I’ll definitely try and add screenshot of the specific trail in the website the next time :+1:
