I’m confused and disappointed that two of the Wayspots I submitted were recently removed. What is particularly confusing is that one of these Wayspots had previously been approved by Niantic itself following an appeal.
Both Wayspots are permanent, clearly recognizable hiking trail signs located along an established hiking route. The trail is officially marked on maps, is well maintained, and is clearly intended for hikers and outdoor recreation.
Hiking trails and trail markers are valid points of interest because they encourage physical activity, exploration, and interaction with the surrounding environment. These signs are not temporary or ambiguous objects; they are permanent, functional markers that help people navigate and discover the area.
I would therefore appreciate it if you could review the removals again and clarify why these Wayspots were considered ineligible. In particular, I would like to understand why a Wayspot that was previously approved by Niantic following an appeal has now been removed.
I also noticed that another trail sign along the same route has disappeared, although I was not the person who submitted that Wayspot. This makes me wonder whether there may have been a broader issue with Wayspots along this hiking trail.
Thank you for taking the time to review this. I would appreciate a reconsideration of the removals and an explanation of the criteria that led to these decisions.
The titles and photos of the Wayspots in question can be seen in the attached image.
