Hello everyone, this is my first nomination for a pokestop and it got denied + the appeal got denied.
The reason was it beeing on property of a private residence.
The street library I’ve built is mounted on a mailbox wall, on a public road. see picture below that shows the property line.
How can I resubmit the nomination so it has a greater chance of beeing approved?
It can feel like a rather harsh rule, but anything attached to a house or exterior property wall of a house is not eligible unless it’s a multi-family residence (e.g. a block of flats / apartment building).
Does this mean that if I make the library standalone, close to the road. it might get accepted?
by the way, the wall you can see in the picture is not a fence, house wall, or a garage wall.
Its a wall for mailboxes, not connected to the house in any way.
Its a wall with a small roof, just for mailboxes and in this case the street library
It may not be attached to the building itself but it is still attached to a facade which is part of the property, and on/very close to the property boundary (and IMO very similar to a fence).
Moving it won’t necessarily make it eligible (nothing should be treated as an instant acceptance), but it would remove the ineligibility due to being on SFPRP, however there does not seem to be too much space on the side of the road for pedestrians so it may not be safe access if moved too far.
Maybe see if your local city council/municipality will give you permission to place it in the green space across the road.
It might get accepted in any situation, but as it stands that is unlikely and it would be likely that it would be subsequently removed. If you do a little search here you will find hundreds of “Where has my LFL stop gone?” posts.
If you got permission to install it on public land and you could provide evidence / otherwise make it obvious that that was the case, then it could be eligible, however you should tread carefully, as ‘creating things for the express intention of making stops’ is a contentious subject. Not least because the creations are often low quality and poorly maintained.
Not saying that would be the case here, but you can imagine that many players will get their home stop and then completely forget to look after the item they created.
Even if someone manage to move the LFL to somewhat public land and made reviewer into thinking that the wayspot is eligible doesnt mean it will stay. Anyone who notice that the wayspot is actually ineligible or gone (put temporaryly to make people think its on public land), can report the wayspot for removal. You can however work together with your local community to put LFL in local community area.
