In Voting Queue for 7 Days - Is This Normal?

Hello community and moderators,

I am seeking some insight regarding my recent Wayspot submission for Sr. Sto. Nino Chapel, which entered the “In Voting” stage on July 31, 2026.

In my local community, nominations typically resolve within 1 day once they enter the voting process. However, this submission has now been stuck in voting for 7 days.

This delay is causing a gridlock for my other submissions. I have multiple other nominations nearby that I want to get resolved, but they are currently blocked because they share neighboring S2 grid cells with this active vote.

Since Niantic Support does not handle manual cancellations or status updates for active votes, I wanted to ask if anyone has advice on breaking this bottleneck, or if this is just a standard system fluctuation.

Yes, voting can take several weeks (sometimes even months), depending how many reviewers there are in your region, and also depending on how fast consensus is reached.

The reason I was a bit concerned is because I have had around 20 other nominations in this same area that all resolved within just 1 to 3 days.

Because of that, I was wondering if something specific might be causing this particular chapel nomination to take 7 days, especially since it is now holding up my other submissions in the neighboring cells. I appreciate your insights!

Well I do see that there is an elementary school in the neighborhood, this may cause a lot of people to reject it, but as it is a church, many other people will accept it, and you need a clear majority to get it approved.

When a submission causes people to skip, or some reject and some accept, this increases the time the submission will take to get through review.

(Probably - a submission with a balance of yes/no will carry on getting reviewed until one side wins, but a submission that everyone accepts will get cleared from the queue much earlier as it is not necessary to keep asking.)

That makes a lot of sense! It probably just needs more time to reach a clear majority vote because of that mixed feedback.

Interestingly, I actually had another nomination approved recently that is much closer to the elementary school than this chapel is. Hopefully, the reviewers will reach a consensus on this one soon so the queue can clear up.

That explanation makes perfect sense. I think the reason people might be skipping or hesitating is because the chapel isn’t directly visible on Google Street View, even though it can be clearly seen on the standard map view.

Since reviewers can’t get a 360-degree street look, it’s likely causing that split decision or skipping behavior you mentioned. I will just have to be patient and wait for one side to reach a definitive consensus. Thank you for the insight!

I recently had a nomination in voting for almost two months. If you’re impatient, you can use an upgrade.
