Pokestop Missing

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Little Free Library

  • Location (lat/lon): 39.75528 N, 8463793 W

  • City:Eaton

  • Country: Ohio

  • Additional Information (A pokestop has been at the location for months. It is not on a private residential lot. It is highly accessible by a sidewalk with public access. It is on a street lined with multi family houses. Now it’s just gone. I also could be unsure on the exact lat/lon because the stop isn’t there today for me to get the exact lat/lon. It was also part of a 2 routes. Is it a glitch or was it removed?

To me, this unit looks equivalent to what we’d call a semi-detached bungalow in the UK. Basically it’s two single family private residences that are stuck together, and which would still both individually count as private residential property. The little free library looks to have been placed in the garden of number 119. Whilst yes, it faces the footpath and can be used from the footpath, the actual anchor point still appears to be on the property of number 119, and so it shouldn’t have been accepted in the first place based on that.

If you have evidence that it’s not within the garden of number 119, or that 119 isn’t a single family private residence, then you’ll need to provide this to get the wayspot reinstated.

It was on the private property. Being accessible from the sidewalk is not sufficient; the LFL has to be on public ground to be eligible. This one wasn’t.

It’s not in the garden. It’s physically on the edge of the sidewalk. In the USA these are considered apartments. I’m not sure how to rectify that to other countries in Wayfarer… It was an approved POI for a long time. We even have apartments as POI here as well. What information do i need to provide and to whom? And Thank you for your response.

I am in the US. I would not consider this apartments. I would consider these connected single family private residential properties. This is the lawn space for one of those properties, not a common area for both of them. This appears to be on the property owner side of the sidewalk on a single family property based on the post in the photo. If that is not accurate, you should provide photos from a bit farther back to prove where the LFL sits.

We have seen staff reinstate when there are two families living in a single building, but I don’t understand the difference between when they do consider that to make it a multifamily unit and when they don’t. It could be enough to see that the building is counted as two lots here to have them reinstate, which I don’t believe is the right call, but they may.

(I would also never submit or accept apartments as poi, but that is a different subject.)

We are guessing this was removed for the SFPRP issue, but this could also have been removed by property owner request. If that is the case, there is nothing you can do to get it reinstated.

Thank you for your response. Definitely 2 families in the same building. Multi-family. And I’m seeing a lot of POI’s disappearing nearby on the map today. I actually thought it was a glitch. The property owner didn’t request removal because I know them personally and asked them. What do I need to provide and to whom to see if I can get the POI back? I have no clear instructions on that.

We aren’t staff. They will decide on this appeal. We are trying to guess why it may have been removed. Posting a photo that is further back than the closeup in the wayspot photo may help establish where exactly this LFL is located since it does not show on street view. I think the issue of this being a single building with two families is not contested so you would not need to present evidence of that for staff. It will come down to whether they consider this two SFPRP units or one multifamily one if that is the issue. If they need more evidence from you, they will ask. Staff names will begin with “ScopelyExp” here on the forum.

Thank you cyndiepooh. I will get a picture from several angles to provide for them later today. Will they contact me directly for those or just on here? Thank you again for your responses.

They will reply on this post. They may accept, reject, or ask for more evidence.

I forgot to mention, appealing here is the correct way to go about this! Don’t just resubmit it, because if they removed it for being ineligible, then it could lead to sanctions on your account to resubmit.

These are semi-detached houses. Each residence is SFPRP and there are no multi-family units.

Semi-detached houses are very common in the UK and comprise a single building that is split into two halves.

Here, each half has its own garden, its own garage and its own entrance.

The only way a building like this could be considered a multi-family residence is when it has a single entrance to multiple residences or there are stairs leading up to a higher floor which has its own entrance.

The other wayspot removals are probably similar - on SFPRP, so when reviewers didn’t care about the rules and accepted the wayspots, they were on borrowed time. Now that anyone can report an ineligible wayspot from anywhere, using the wayfarer map, these wayspots are more likely to get removed (by Scopely Explore). You are welcome to post about other ones.

I did have a thought. This LFL charter#217914 is registered to 119 Debbie Drive, not 119-121 Debbie Drive.

This also seems to have the same photo, so maybe this was removed for being submitted with a third party photo? The LFL site photo is cropped closer, but the angle of the library and the books are exactly the same. Just a thought.

Ugh I didn’t get the whole photo in the snip. From the library lookup site:

Thank you. The books are definitely different now and I honestly hope that’s the reason because that’s easily fixed with another photo. Another question, (hopefully you don’t mind)
should I take a picture of its current books and add here?

I would recommend that. One closer and one further away to make clear where it is situated in the yard. That’s the only other removal reason I could think of.

However, this LFL is attached to one of the wooden posts that are visible in the streetview image I posted. It is definite that this LFL is in the garden.

(There is enough background to identify the house to the left, and there is no sidewalk between the LFL and the house - just continuous grass. Plus the post itself.)

Thanks for the appeal, @GrammyGotcha , this Wayspot doesn’t meet Wayfarer riteria and as a result, we stand by our decision to retire it.

Salixsorbus, The LFL is not attached to the wooden post you refer to. Its actually mounted on a 4x4 post in cement concrete planter and it not located in the Garden. It would be nice if there was sidewalks in between every building but that is not the case. Would be fun for disabled people to wheel themselves about more easily. (Not sure why you think there should be a sidewalk there.) Anyhow This has been solved by the wayfarer team. And a special thank you to those whom were helpful in comments.

It’s on a wooden post and there is a sidewalk in front of it clearly showing on streetview. There is no sidewalk between the wooden post and the housing, regardless of which wooden post it is on. I don’t know how this can be argued with.

Could you please send me a private message with what Criteria changed from approval to removal? Mutual players and neighbors would like to know and I don’t have a clear answer for them to help. They also want to know if someone reported it. Thank you in advance.
