Could you please clarify the criteria for a PokéStop to be upgraded to a Gym? How many Wayspots are required?
No matter how many Wayspots I create in this area, a third Gym does not appear to be created.
Could you please check whether there is a specific requirement or issue preventing the creation of the third Gym?

I do not know exactly how this works but the L14 Cell does contain an “Inactive” Gym. I have seen other posts stating that these are included as a Gym even though it is not in the game.
It is exactly what @SlimboyFat71 found.
This cell has three gyms, so no more community-submitted wayspots will be converted to gyms.That the gym is inactive is irrelevant, as it is still a gym.
This happens, for example, when a property owner requests a gym be disabled. The gym remains as a gym, because otherwise the property-owner route would be abused to get gyms moved. As it stands, since there is no in-game benefit from pretending to be a property owner, the risk of abuse is low.

If a Wayspot located in a duplicated cell is selected to become a Gym, would we need to ask Niantic to make an adjustment afterward?
If so, could someone from the Niantic team please review this situation and make the necessary adjustmen.
Do you know if the Wayspot @SlimboyFat71 found has been moved recently?
Sometimes Aaron has to get out his stick and poke it when stuff like this happens.
(Staff do not acknowledge the S2 cell algorithms the community have observed, though.)

The Pokemon Go map is now showing “3つの傘型のパーゴラの休憩所” as a gym (35.816498,139.927459).
The issue seems to now be resolved.

There have been a lot of Ingress battles in my neighborhood, so I’ve been having a difficult time dealing with the frequent location changes.
Ingress is not part of Wayfarer since May 2025.
