Dear Wayfarer Team,
I would like to formally appeal the rejection of my removal report concerning the Wayspot “Gedenkstein Projensdorf” in Kiel, Germany (54.355081, 10.106770).
After examining the actual object, its surroundings, the cadastral map and additional supporting evidence, I believe that this Wayspot requires reconsideration.
My concerns are based on the following points:
- The object is not a memorial stone
Despite its title, “Gedenkstein Projensdorf” (Memorial Stone Projensdorf), the object is not identifiable as a memorial or historical monument.
The original photograph clearly shows two inscriptions:
109 – the house number BANDITT – a private surname
The number corresponds to the residential address Steenbeker Weg 109, Kiel.
There is no visible commemorative inscription, historical date, dedication or reference to any person or event being commemorated.
The object appears to serve as a personalized residential address marker rather than a public memorial.
Consequently, the Wayspot’s title and description appear to misrepresent the object’s actual purpose and suggest commemorative significance that has not been established.
- Additional evidence from a public telephone directory
A publicly available entry in the German telephone directory Das Telefonbuch (dastelefonbuch.de) provides additional corroboration of the connection between the surname on the stone and the residential address.
A redacted screenshot is provided as supporting evidence. Personal contact information, including first names and telephone numbers, has been concealed.
This evidence further supports the interpretation that the stone is a private residential name and address marker rather than a commemorative monument.
- Incorrect Wayspot location
The existing Wayspot marker is positioned closer to the public road than the physical object.
The actual stone is located immediately beside the residential driveway, at the position marked with a white dot on the attached map.
The current Wayspot position therefore does not accurately represent the object’s physical location.
I respectfully ask that the actual location be assessed rather than relying exclusively on the existing Wayspot coordinates.
- Private residential property concerns
The stone is situated on the triangular cadastral parcel 180/2, directly adjacent to residential parcel 199/6.
Source:
Although these parcels are separately registered in the cadastral map, the stone’s residential inscription, location beside the driveway and landscaped surroundings strongly suggest that the triangular area is associated with the neighboring single-family residence.
I therefore request verification of whether parcel 180/2 forms part of the private single-family residential premises.
Under the Wayfarer eligibility criteria, objects located on private single-family residential property, including its boundaries, are ineligible even if they are visible or accessible from a public street.
- Privacy concerns
The Wayspot photograph prominently displays a private surname together with a house number and an identifiable residential location.
This is particularly questionable because the object is presented as a public memorial, although the available evidence indicates that it is a private residential address marker.
The combination of a family name, house number and precise location creates an identifiable association with a private residence.
I understand that publicly visible inscriptions are not automatically prohibited from being photographed. Nevertheless, I ask that the residential nature of the object and the associated privacy concerns be taken into account.
- Supporting evidence
I am providing the following materials:
Original photograph of the stone, including enlarged details of the inscriptions.
Annotated cadastral map showing parcel 180/2, the neighboring residential parcels and the actual stone location.
Screenshot of the existing Wayspot marker showing the location discrepancy.
Redacted telephone directory screenshot supporting the residential connection.
The rejection of my original removal request.
Request for reconsideration
In summary, this Wayspot appears to be a private residential address marker incorrectly presented as a public memorial, with an inaccurate map position and unresolved concerns regarding its location on private residential property.
I respectfully request a renewed review of the removal decision, including verification of the actual property boundaries and the object’s eligibility under the private residential property criteria.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards
EDIT – Additional evidence regarding SFPRP:
Following feedback in the comments, I have found further evidence that the adjacent property at Steenbeker Weg 109 is a single-family residence.
The German building database onlinestreet.de explicitly identifies No. 109 as an “Einfamilienhaus” (single-family house).
The same database separately classifies other properties on the street, including Nos. 42 and 44, as “Mehrfamilienhaus” (multi-family buildings).
This distinction supports the classification of No. 109 as a single-family residence. The stone’s inscription showing a single family surname and house number is also consistent with this.
